My EDC gun is my HD gun also. It is a hk p2000, when I get home I pop a light on it and let it rest next to my bed. Every gun that I have besides what is in my safe has a round chambered and ready to go. I don't own any handguns that have night sites but I plan to put some on the hk p2000.

Very nice. I have almost the exact same set up. I have a TLR-1 and keep it fully loaded. You should check out the BladeTech paddle. Keeps the Pistol safe in the night stand until I need it. Also, it slips on the belt quick if I want to step out into the yard. Stay safe.

Glock 22, Glock 17 soon... no lights, no night sights...

In emergency, you take your gun if you have one and you have no time to aim.

And lights and laser tell to the bad guy where you are..... its very dangerous.

Bad guy just must shoot to the light and you are die.....

If my gun is in a defensive role, at least one always is, than it has a round in the chamber and a full magazine and/or tube. I prefer my bedside gun to have a safety. For years I had a Beretta 92FS and my Mossberg 590 as my HD weapons. My current primary HD is my Bushy/LMT/BCM mutt AR15 with a Hornady TAP 55gr in the chamber and a full 20-30rd mag in. The AR has a Surefire light attached. My pistol, at my bedside at night, all other time with me, is usually my Springfield 1911 Custom Loaded. I carry it in condition one (cocked and locked) 230gr +P CorBon JHP + eight round mag and additional backup mag. I also have a Surefire G2 beside it. Plus, my cell phone charging to me is most important. No kids in house by the way. I do have a Glock 21 with a M3 that I use instead of the 1911, but it has been a dedicated .22LR with the AA Kit on it lately. My G19 is my daily carry gun, but it gets left in the safe when I get home and unload all my equipment.

Glock 26 with 15round mag loaded chamber, with a light next to it. It's just my girlfriend and I, and my boxer. She knows all guns are always loaded/chambered. And she's very safe with them.

also added: Glock 19 is holstered on Duty belt chamber is always loaded. With 2 spare mags also on the belt.

I have a 23 with Federal Hydra Shok in condition 4 on my bedside table with a surefire E2E and a mini pentagon angled light, and a condition 4 mossberg 500 with 5 rounds of #1 buck on the sidesaddle. I have a 3 year old running around the house, so I play it safe and am willing to risk the couple seconds it will take to go condition 1 if something goes bump in the night.

Sooooooo....you would rather not have night sights (as a minimum) because you plan on not having time to aim in any situation?
Grip, front sight, squeeze......all VERY important in a defensive situation.

My HD depends which gun:

A Glock 19 in condition one w/ a SF X300. I carry on/off duty in a KCH. It also sits as my nightstand gun. I recently changed the sights to a Hackathorn setup. I sometime use the Glock 19 15 rd magazine for off and on duty a Glock 17 rd. mag for the +2. I use my department issued Federal HST 147 gr. JHP in the mag.

My other gun is a NHC GRP 45. acp in a Lobo Gun Leather holster with snaps. Love the holster. It's always in condition 1, cocked and locked. Since it doesn't have a light, I use a Fenix TK12. I use my department issued Federal HST 230 gr. +P.

Jake,

Good point, I grow weary of this Internet airsofter dribble about racking shotguns and who will have time to do what.

You will do what you are trained to do, and if that is to look for the front sight, you will do that. If you have a bunch of extra kit on your handgun and you are not trained to use it, there is a good chance the fight will happen without it making a difference.

I think that I need to explain my post.

Right now I have not night sights and not lights, but night sights are good idea for your GLOCK, independently if you are trained for aim or not.

Lights and laser I think can be dangerous.

Lights have an on off switch (most are spring loaded in one direction). Also, you can activate the laser on / off with the proper grip. Besides, it's not as easy as you think to see the laser. The light also has the additional benefit of blinding the BG.

While I've played musical CCWs from time to time, I've used the same HD gun for 7 years, Beretta Vertec (G model ), factory night sights, CTC laser grips, mounted Flashlight. I like the full hammer down / ready to go in an HD gun.
