Norma 10mm 200 grain

Just curious if anyone has experience with Norma 10mm 200 grain ammo? Is it worth it to get some? Anyone ever shot this ammo? Found some locally.

This Norma's are probably original first 10mm loads. Check the year of production, if it is from late 80's just rush and buy them, it's not only good hot avesome 10mm load it has a great historical value too.
If you're in doubt or they are new, buy one box, go to the range and shoot some. If they kick like mule or even heavier they are THEM.
If you can, compare with another newer factory rounds e.g. Remington 180gr FMJ's. You will feel the difference.
P.S.: Where do you live?

Is there a stock number where I'll know if they're original? Did they come out with watered down Norma?

NORMA or norma ?

Sorry I can't tell you more about original Norma 10mm ammo. But I'm sure that here on GT are guys who know much more about it. I am curious too what did you find. Where do you live? Don't worry, I'm from Europe, I won't rush to your town and buy them
And ... if I ever get my hand on box of original 200gr Norma from late 80's I won't shoot them- I will keep them in my safe as a rare souvenir.

Doubletap has their own "Norma" round too, a 200gr FMJ @ over 1200 fps. I just want the performance so I go with that. I would love to have the old souvenir ammo of course, but new ammo to the same if not hotter specs is even better!!!

Just FYI, but the original fps/fpe specs on Norma's 10mm ammo were:

* A 200gn FMJ-FP (cited occasionally as a "truncated cone") @ 1200fps/640fpe;

* A 170gn JHP (called the "Power Cavity") @ 1400fps/740fpe (first generation), then throttled back to 1300fps/638fpe (second generation).

Those specs were 5" barrel stats from, presumably, the Bren Ten or a 5" test barrel D&D shipped to the Norma plant for load development.

In the late '80s, some who chrono-ed Norma's 200gn ammo that was still in circulation (by then Colt's Delta Elites were out) found it to be a bit hotter than the "box-flap" 1200fps (early lots, from circa 1984-85), but later samples were often clocked in the 1150-80fps range.

In the early days of Hornady's marketing of their own 10mm line-up (they actaully offered a variety of bullet-weights/styles), both of their 200gn loads (FMJ-FP & XTP-HP) showed "boxflap" fps specs right at 1180fps from a 5" tube.

DT currently offers the same 200gn XTP @ 1250fps/694fpe and the same 200gn FMJ-FP @1275fps/722fpe.

Again, just FYI.

Happy Turkey Day.

I shot a lot of it thru my 20 & 29, used it to show folks that a "plastic" gun wasn't hard to shoot, pointing out that the 29 was the worst case recoil that they'd ever experience from a Glock. Probably shouldn't have used it up, but I sold a LOT of Glocks with that combo. still have 2 or 3 boxes of 200's left, & about 10 of the 170's. In the safe, don't shoot it anymore. Maybe if I get an original Bren-Ten we'll burn up a bit, for historical value !
Both bullet weights shoot very accurately from the G20, & not bad from the G29.
