Hmm, I tend to use what is supposed to be used. Rifle primers are slightly hotter than pistol primers, they also have slightly thicker cups. If you work your loads up & the gun fires, then you can use them, but not advised. For rifles, if you shoot a semiauto, you don't need the mil spec primer (CCI#41), but they will help prevent a slam fire. Just stay away from Fed in semiautos & you should be fine.
