Dell 1764 Webcam Problem

Error: Please plug in a supported device. Sometimes the cam will open with no problems sometimes it gives me the error.

Dell support has updated all the drivers but I still have the problem. Now they want to restore the computer to "day one". I really don't want to have to start over again. Has anyone had this problem and know of an easy fix?
The thing about reality is that it's always there waiting for you the next morning.

Funny, both my wife and I purchased Dell Studio 15.6" laptops recently and the built in webcam worked fine, that is until we loaded our personal software and installed all the required MS updates. Dell tech support ended up having to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them and it's worked ok so far for the wife, in my case, when I installed my MS Office 2010 update to Office 2007, I had to again uninstall my webcam drivers and reinstall it.
