My first full house custom.

A little more than a year ago, I finally decided to have my first full house custom built. Inspired by an article I saw in Surefire Combat Tactics magazine about a gun called the T.H.U.G. which was built by Steve Morrision of MARS Armament. After reading the article I eventually gave Steve a call to ask a few questions. I found Steve to be a great guy who was easy to work with and willing to put up with my endless questions. I finally decided on Steve's Axiom package with a few additional features thrown in. On Steve's suggestion I chose a Colt 01918 WWI repro as my base gun and sent it off to him.

Extras:

Gold bead front sight

Modified ledge rear sight

Golf ball texture on the front strap and mainspring housing with matching golf ball grips.

Flush cut muzzle to thick flange bushing.

Black Ceracoat finish.

I also had Steve fit both an extended thumb saftey and fit the GI safety to the gun so I would have a spare. Steve also fitted me a spare extractor. Steve finished final assembly yesterday and the gun will be shipping to me on Monday just in time for Christmas!

Please enjoy the pics and please let me know what you think.

Looks nice! Kind of a mix of traditional and modern looks with the beavertail/hammer setup and the old style thumb safety.

Quack,

I noticed that as well, but for me, on this build it is a non issue. Steve builds guns to run, and some of his packages (like the Axiom) don't include fine hand blending of certain areas. His guns have a reputation of being dead nuts reliable hard use guns, and that was exactally what I wanted. Granted, I did include some cosmetic improvements and alot of handwork went into this build, but as I intend to abuse this gun, that is a very minor issue for me. I am also certainly not implying that finely fit 1911's are not reliable, it was just not part of this specific build.

Thanks for the compliments so far guys. I can't wait to get this puppy in my hands as I have been waiting with great anticipation for it to be done. I will have it most likely on Teusday, and I hope to get it to the range for a brief shake down on that same day or the next.
