Well that just sucks. I was hoping for a slightly milder case. They can sometimes be treated with miniscule doses that build resistance.

Turned out to be Bulleit bourbon and Red Stag. Though some of it might get stashed and some of it might get drunk.

Drink what you store, store what you drink.
Or at least store what your friends will drink.
I have not had either of those. I guess if you force me to and send it to me, I will verify that they are good enough for you to store.

As insignificant as it might be, today I located another back-roads way in/out of the relatively large city I live in. The route takes you around a large lake and a fresh water river (fishin'), a large wooded area (huntin') and an EXTREMELY wealthy subdivision (lootin').

Finally saw The Book of Eli. Not too much to learn about SP except fun to watch the barter scene and the usual Mutant Zombie Bikers.

I watched the Book of Eli again recently as well. Funny you mentioned the barter scene - that's what stuck with me as well. What hit me is that we might be shocked at some of the stuff that is "worth" something post-SHTF... like shampoo and wet-wipes.
From a survival standpoint, ole' Eli did just about everything WRONG with the exception of getting in good with God.

Different response
Obtained three working squirrel trap cages. They work beautifully. Watched as set rat traps did not work. Double benefit. Protects fruit tree output when it is not shtf. Will work after shtf.

learned how easy it really is to plug my own tire. lots cheaper too. plugs and patches are up to 15 bucks now. used to be 6. got 5 plugs and the tools to do it for 8.
i have always done most all the work to my own vehicles, sometimes paying for oil changes due to laziness, but tires are one thing i never messed with before.

Gallon water jugs. Building the kitchen stash first, about 20 gallons in the cupboard, then loading up a rack in the basement.
I know, I should probably load up the basement first incase something happens. But I have immediate need for minor power failures, flushing the toilets, etc.
I use hosed out gallon orange juice mainly.

How long does water "last" in a re-used one gallon plastic jug that once contained distilled water?
Specifically, if I use a gallon of distilled water for my kid's humidifier and then refill it with tapwater, how long will it last?

Milk jugs don't last that long,I'd use scepter cans or something made of a heavier plastic.3liter soda bottles are pretty strong.'08.

I would not use either container.
The containers that I have seen for distilled water are not constructed to last forever. I believe they are designed to decompose fairly fast.
I am thinking that the large gallon milk jugs are the same, plus you have to clean them out or you have milk contaminate your water.
I have been using 2 liter pop bottles. I have a large stash of them under my bed. They have been there for more than a year with no issues. At another location, I have several other 2 littler bottles that have been around for much longer.

I actually did use the distilled water jugs. I use a CPAP machine with a humidifier and it beats just throwing them away.
They will last for years.
I'm more concerned with refilling them every 6 months or so to keep bacteria or mold from forming, mildew, mold whatever.

That's more of what I was asking - how long can I keep the water around. So about six months?

Finish my pilot lessons and get my license. I've been at it for too long. Here's my advice if you decide to become a pilot. Fly at least 3 times a week, more if you can afford it. Good luck and remember.
