Sending the SS TRP in to the SACS

Been talking to Dave Williams at the SACS about my SS TRP project. Torn between cheaping out and just getting the barrel flush crowned and a single sided safety vs. having a radical bevel job, FCS removed(BHP carry cut). flush crowned barrel, "Colt style" high cut trigger guard, single sided safety and refinished in bead blasted satin/matte. I wish they wouldn't have raise the price of the radical bevel from $220 to $450 as of Sept. of this year(what a bunch of BS), but I think it would be one cool looking TRP. What do you guys think?

Plan B for sure. You know what they say go big or go home. That does suck that they raised the price like that though.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm probably gonna break down and go for the homerun. It will be the most tricked out TRP I've ever seen. Even Dave Williams agrees.

Joe, go with plan B.

I really like the Browning cut on my Liebenberg for something different.

Cry once, buy once. I'd go with option B. I think a EGW Carry Bevel bushing would also be a nice touch.

Option A sounds nice but isn't worth the shipping fees, IMO.

The CS didn't mention it to me at first, but you can arrange round trip shipping for $60, incase they didn't tell you.

I have been contemplating the Hi-Power cut to rid my TRP of the hideous FCS. I am always on the lookout for a picture of one.

I just found out that you cant ALWAYS remove FCS with the hi power cut. I was planning on doing this to my RRA Basic Carry and was told the slide wall on the right side would be too shallow.

There are some smiths that will just grind down the serrations to the base but I'm told it doesn't look right.

I was thinking of sending my TRP in for some love as well. Im still not sure what Im going to do though because I like more guns, but quality is always more important. Does Springer post their custom pricing anywhere? Or do you have to speak with them?

Here you go.

There are several things that SACS will do that are not listed. So if you don't see something offered, just call them and they will let you know if they do and how much.

What happened? I haven't used them before, but they have been really good to work with over the phone and through e-mail so far.

OK, this will be long, I wasn't going to put it out there,so I didn't have Chuck take any pictures . When I got my 9mm Mil-spec,the finish was terrible. It went back under warranty . I figured while it was there, I would have a few things done to it. I had them do the beavertail GS, lower and flair the ejection port, lighten the trigger, and bevel the magwell. At thier suggestion I also had them install an extended ejector . After I got it back it went to Chuck. He started working on the gun and sends me an e-mail that he needs to install a new ejector on my gun because it was too short and was not matched to the frame ! I told him it was a new ejector that was just installed and also told him what other work was done , without telling him who did it. He said the trigger job was bad, the mag well bevel was done to just the bare minimum to be considered beveled and the ejection port job was off center. When I told him where the work was done at , he couldn't believe it.He offered to box the gun up and send it back to Springfield for me, but I told him to just make it right himself. That's kind of why I hadn't put it out there. I never gave Springfield a chance to fix it. I figured Chuck already had it, do why wait even longer to get it back. Besides, they already did a bad job once.

Very surprising. All my experience with the SACS has been great.

Yep, that's what I've alway heard . The custom shop guns look great. I figured I couldn't go wrong using them. If you go to 1911 forum and look for Chuck's thread "fun with ejectors" you will see how poorly my new extended ejector fit.
Chuck uses the same username over there.

Well, I will say this, Chuck definately knows what he's doing. I do hate to hear that about the SACS, but that's the first bad story I've ever heard and am sending my SS TRP in next week for a makeover. Can't wait to get it back and post some pics of it. Gonna be a rarely, if ever seen TRP.
