Teej, thank you for the compliment on the 870P. All I did was apply a couple of coats of tung oil to the furniture and then finish it off with an application of Minwax.

Before the tung oil did you take any finish off chemically or fine sanding? And did you hand rub in the tung oil? I just bought an old Mossberg 500 I need to redo. Thank you

I'm usually not one to question people's gun tastes, but I have to in this case.
You shelled out the extra $$ for a nice finish on that 590, and have a Mini-Mag on it? I only say this because it could be important if you ever have to use that gun in a low/no light situation. Get a decent light. Surefire G2s go for like $30. They're bright, tough, and you can activate them with your thumb, and not worry about screwing around (literally) with the twist on/off the Mini-Mag has.
Plus, with the G2, you can later splurge $55 on a Malkoff LED conversion and get a pure white light blasting out 230+ lumens for over an hour and a half of runtime, with great shock absorbing characteristics.

Teej, I probably should have put the tung oil on a stripped/sanded finish, but i figured i'd give it a try on the stock as it was. I truly don't know how much it accomplished, or how much different it would have been if I stripped the finish off, however I did have a couple of surface scuffs that came right out. I just hand rubbed the tung oil out after it dried.
I did just recently refinish a M1a birch stock and I used Citristrip with very good results. I would probably prep the wood properly for your Mossberg.

I agree with what your are saying, this set up cost about $8. Iam going to get a new forend that holds a good light when I get the $300 to do it this is just a temp thing to get by until then

No need to spend any where near that money. Like I said, Surefire G2 in your current mount will work 100%, with room to upgrade to a much brighter light for only another $55.

Always trying to help. Be fore-warned about the pressure switch though, a lot of people who have tried them, especially in hard-use applications, don't care for them. They have a tendancy to catch on all sorts of stuff.

Ebay is littered with those kind of slings, generic ones to quality ones. If you want quality go for a troy one:
http://troyind.com/OnePoint.html
I just ordered one for my EBR, might have to get one for my shotgun too since i redid that this week:
Took off the ATI junk on the foreend and took off the Choate folding stock(i really like the quality of it, but it just didn't work for me). It now has a speedfeed III stock and foreend. I called speedfeed and told them I wasn't happy with how short the mounting bolt is so they are sending me a longer one so I can use my GG&G sling adapter as well.

a big +1. I think this thread should be renamed to "TactiCOOL Shotgun Pics Thread". Mine looks just like JoshuaCs. The only mod I made to it was to replace the polymer trigger group with the stupid locking safety switch with an old school metal one I got on ebay.
