You mean you slide the flex cuffs in between your duty gear longitudinally so it is parallel to the belt? Seems like quite a production.
What size belt you wear? I am a 32" so the flex cuff would probably go around more than half my waist.

I use to carry two black of these flex cuffs the way its shown here, just by putting it through the loops of all the gear, sticking it behind, but that way its quite hard to remove them. On the other hand no one ever noticed it and its not common here to carry these though.

I wear a size 40'' to 42'' belt. So I have plenty of room. Yes I mean slide the zip cuff parallell with the belt.

It would be kinda cool to slide them in perpendicular though so you have all these trailies hanging down your belt like bead curtains or a grass skirt or something.

Well these are black zip tie cuffs so they would not be terribly noticable unless your looking for them.

Ours are the hi-viz yellow with the yellow coupler. Very visible, until you put them next to my jaundiced eye. Then it's not so visible.

No, we're required to carry them because dispatch likes to send 10-21 info(phone numbers) and other crap out on them instead of using the MDC....some cops keep it in their epaulette but i don't like that way

Using the epaulettes for anything other than a radio mic or your mirrored aviators look stupid!

I'm switching over to 5.11 Class B pants, so my nextel will be moving to the cargo pocket. A while back, like 4 years ago, I used to carry the pager in my epaulette but it was very uncomfortable so I moved it to the belt.

Double cuff case, actually.
The knives are a good story. I originally had one SOG Trident. I managed to leave it in a locker at the jail one night, and it was gone when I went back an hour later. I bought another one (and they're not cheap!) and promptly lost it by leaving it at the jail as well. I finally gave up and bought a much cheaper CRKT. On a whim, I asked (fancy that) one of the matrons one night and she said that she thought that they had ONE of them...they did. Same matron called me two weeks later to tell me that she had found the second one. Now the SOGs ride in my cargo pockets and the CRKT in my shirt pocket.

Hell, I have four blades on me at any one time. Boss thinks I'm a 'knife nut'. Uh yeah. Right. "Want to see the new one boss??"

There is a Deputy in the neighboring county that carries 7 blades when he is on duty and 4 when he is off. He has a couple Hideaway Knives on top of a KA-BAR TDI, and folders

I fully believe in having options, but I also believe that having too many can cause a person to freeze, trying to decide which one to take.
Primary on-the-belt gun
Backup gun, accessible with both hands
"Working" knife, for actually cutting things, in a comfortable spot
Self Defense knife, accessible with both hands
Baton, accessible with both hands
Can't really fault people for being prepared, but at some point you are just weighing yourself down and making yourself more cumbersome. I can carry all of this, plus a kubaton, run with ease, and jump up and down without making any noise (jingling/clanking). I call that a pretty good compromise.

7 knives? What, you guys work in Beverly Hills or something? We carry 1 sword, 1 machete, and 2 Kukris along with 2 boot knives, 4 pocket knives, 1 necklace knife, 3 throwing darts on each wrist, and a pocket full of throwing stars.
Did I mention I am a tactical ninja?

lol-no believe it or not it's a suburban department in the midwest....I guess he used to work out on the east coast and some guy diced him up pretty good, so now he doesn't want to be without an option at every position he could wind up in.

Some guy diced him up so he carries 7 knives so he can slice and dice back equally? Yeah, that'll look good on the evening news. Cop and suspect engage in a westside story knife fight in the alley.
