Stock position question?

Where do you have your 6 position stock set? 1 being fully retracted. 6 fully extended.

This is also assuming no body armor, thick jackets etc.

I was messing around with the stock settings (I didn't have a timer with me) but I felt that at position 4 I could shoulder the weapon faster and maybe even get on target faster after a shot.

With the LMT SOPMOD stock, I use 3. I think it is a longer stock than other stocks too.

2 in normal clothes, 1 in a coat or armor.

Besides armor it also depends on the rifle, barrel length, handguards and how far I can get my support hand out.

I use 5 for regular. 4 for Armor, and 6 for NVG's (helps get my goggles behind the aimpoint)

In armor: 1 or 2.

No armor, 2.

Prone/bench work, 6 at times.

Thin clothing, 3. Thick clothing, 2. Sometimes longer in prone (4-5?), depending on body angle in relation to the weapon.

Never at 6. In civvies, 3 or 4 works well. With the tacvest and armor, it goes down another notch. You can only take it back so far before you run the risk of having your face right on the BUIS.

For me it is either all the way in (1) for 90% of shooting, moving, carrying, transporting... because I shoot very squared off for those things.

If I am plinking or shooting 100yds or above (I shoot my rifles like pistols and do short range stuff almost exclusively) then it is all the way out (6) and I change my stance entirely. Which is the wrong thing to do (so sue me) but those are the habits I have acquired...

Usually 2, but I'm usually wearing armor, a tac vest, or both.

I usually run it at 2 or 3, that would be one or two clicks extended. It also depends on the stock. I find with the VLTOR clubfoot I can run it in position 1 (fully collapsed) without the stock getting in the way of my sling and attachment point (ASAP). Using the Magpul MOE stock I find the stock blocks the sling when transitioning from stong to weak side, or back the other way, so I won't run the MOE in position 1.

I set mine on 5. I actually put a dot of silver paint in the top hole to show when I was at #5

Just depends. I keep it set at 2 or 3, I'd have to check to say for sure. Depending on what I'm doing I sometimes bring it out to 5 or 6. Especially if using irons.
