Off to Shot Show!

Getting ready to head out to Vegas for the week for Shot Show 2011. Im pretty excited with it being my first opportunity to attend one of these and possibly the only time considering retail is not my career. I wish I could take tons of pictures, but their off limits.
So what does everyone want me looking out for to report back on when i get home?

Im looking forward to the firearms zoo!

There were rumors that they were going to display a prototype, but i doubt it. I guess the HK45 originally was supposed to be a 1911, but after designing with Vickers and a few others they scrapped the idea. A 1911 w/ trigger guard mag release? Now that would be awful!

Be safe and enjoy the show! Please note the slight twinge of envy in my voice. I'm obviously green with it.

Yep, that's correct. LV was consulting and they ended up with the HK45, which according to him....with the trigger job Bowie does, shoots as well as, if not better than any 1911 and to him is the ultimate duty pistol. Coming from him...that's impressive.

that's because the wait is too long to get a custom 1911 from Vickers

The HK45 is a great weapon and probably my favorite they've ever done besides the P7, but i guarantee LV was paid to say that one! HK has great ways to reduce recoil more so then the other companies, but recoil out of a polymer gun is always going to be more than out of steel. And I have had Bruce Gray and Bill Springfield trigger job's done on HK's. Its made them a bit better, but comparing to a 1911, now id have to feel that!! Maybe theyll be at shot!

You'll love the SHOT Show. I did last year. The Les Baer and Ed Brown booths were both fantastic. So was the Cylinder and Slide booth. The Louder Than Words tables were fantastic, with some beautiful works of mechanical art.

The highlight for me though was the people. Talking to Ted Yost, Les Baer, Bill Laughridge, Clint Smith, Massad Ayoob, Dave Sevigney, R. Lee Ermey, Alex Robinson, the Magpul crew, the US Olympic Shooting Team, and dozens of others was something that I'll remember forever.

That's a good transition into my primary suggestion: Don't get too hung up on the toys, because it's the people that make the show what it is. Have fun!
