Stupid Question of the day.... 1911 grips...

I am only 2 days old in the 1911 arena. I just bought my first 1911 style pistol a couple of days ago. It is a Kimber Pro Carry II. My question is, what sjze grips fit this pistol? Full Size? Compact? Officers Frame? etc etc etc.... Any help would be great. Also does anyone have any online sources that they have dealt with and were happy with the product and customer service? Im looking to buy some nice wood grips for this thing but Im usually skeptical about online businesses with no feedback from people... Thanks in advance.

Full size grips.

Sarge and Esmerelda both make really nice custom wood grips, someone will chime in with their websites.

make sure you specify standard or thin profile. I'm pretty sure the PC2 has standard thickness. If you want thin, you'll need to change out the grip bushings to thin bushings to accept thin grips.

No such thing as a stupid question really, everybody on here did not know the answer to that question at some point

Kimber Ultra line of 1911s use compact grips.
Kimber Pro models and 5" models 1911s use full size grips.

By and large (and there are indeed exceptions) on 1911s

5" or greater barrel = full size grips
4" - 5" barrel = full size grips
3" barrel = compact grips

Also check out Alumagrips, VZ grips, Houge grips sites. Wilson Combat makes a nice wood grip as well, while there check out some really nice 1911s

Good point brought out above on the grip thickness. I prefer the standard grips but some like the think grips.

Thanks for the info. Ive been very active in my search for a 1911 over the last year. Its been difficult to find what I was looking for. I would of preferred a Colt Gold Cup, money was the biggest issue. I refuse to just settle on a pistol that is kinda like what Ive wanted, but this Kimber basically fell into my lap. I found a local deal in Tampa Bay, Brand New in Box, never fired Pro Carry II, 3 mags and a sholder holster never opened for $650 from a widow... Sad story but I HAD to buy the gun. And Im glad I did so far.

Man...you are in the right place...these guys can answer any of your questions...I bought my first 1911...about a month ago (actually the exact same gun as you) and had the same question..bam answered and grips ordered from Sarge! Got them a couple weeks later and look and feel great. However these guys did warn me that this 1911 would not be my last one...they were right...just bought another one..haha...

OK guys let's see how good you are then. My brother built me a 1911 last year for my b-day. It's a Bersa full size frame with Wilson internals. I am having a hard time finding grips that fit it. I have bought 2 sets and they don't match up. Any clue?
