Bodyguard 380 Ammo

Thinking of getting the Bodyguard 380. I have heard stories that for self defense you are better off in .380 due to the lower power with non hollow points for better penetration. What would be better in this case for self defense, solid or hollowpoint. I know I will hear that get bigger caliber, already have, 9mm, .40s&w, .45, etc but sometimes the need is smaller for carry.

I had not heard this idea before. Interesting.
I often carry a .380 and would like to hear more.
