Anyone like GI Sights on 1911s?

I like them I find them to be accurate, and If I'm in a SD situation I will more likely be using point and shoot technique anyways. I like that they give your hand some purchase to rack the slide. I do plan on painting the front sight blade white to make it easier to see. Am I alone with my young eyes?

I've only got one 1911 with them. I find that they are pretty good if I can take my time, but for SD I find them almost worthless. Might as well just point shoot. I painted the front sight orange to see it faster, but it's still pretty small.

I used to prefer Nokaks but these days I like GI sights better. I just installed a set yesterday on this sweet Colt NIB (with box!) slide from the 50s, test fired the build this am. The slide had a few scratches but had never been installed on a frame.

I don't have a problem with 'em, but the new sights are definitely easier to use. Especially if you're trying to be fast.

That looks really nice.

To the OP, the only 1911 I own has them. I don't mind them at all during the day, but if I shoot at a dimly lit range, I'm all over the place. I will say, I don't have 20/20 vision to begin with.

Well I got better than 20/20 so they work for me. I might possibly get a Yost Gi rear and a fron night sight possibly.

Yost makes a GI sight set?? outstanding

I have a supply of milled Colt WW2 era GI sites 'in the white' still with the flash and edges as yet trimmed. I found them on Ebay a few years back. I will check into the Yost offerings if they are truly GI as I only have about 4 sets left!!

I have a 10-8 NM and tritium front on my GI Champion. I have a Harrison retro to put on my Colt 70 Series repro.

They are a High profile Gi type sight. Fits in the gi dovetail. 10-8 makes one too.

.....as an old 1911 shooter (at the ripe old age of 47) I have found that with GI sights I point the 1911 at the target. With other sights I point the sights and align the 1911 accordingly at the target.

I enjoy shooting GI 1911s.

The sights are small, but I'm not looking for great accuracy with these guns anyway.

True plus in a SD situation I believe i will be doing point and shoot. As I don't want to cut my field of vision in half, and get rid of my depth perception by closing one eye in SD scenarios.
