Austrian Proof marks?
I have been told that some G19s were imported during the aftermath of Obama's ascendency to the Presidency with Austrian proof marks. I guess I had one, did not realize that it was special, and sold it. Is this true and are they worth any more than a regular G19?

They exist. I have one sitting in my kitchen cabinet waiting for the wrong person at the wrong time.

I've got one, there is no extra value, except for the novelty. There are thousands of them.

I offered to trade my new Gen4 G19 for one and no one will do it. O well. The gen4 grip is more comfy.

Oh yes there are such people. Me.
I currently have 4 of the 3rd gen's (not counting my several older 1980's glocks) that have the eagles and proofs.
I recently offered a guy $600 cash for one with nightsights and the eagles, we agreed to meet and he was going to call but he never called me back, now he has it listed for $550 but his money went to my new Walther PPQ (a great gun BTW).
I am always looking for them, often on GB they are listed but fail to mention the eagles as most people see it as nothing more than a Glock 19 - which it is but I just like them. and thank goodness we live in a country where I can like them and not worry about what others think.
so in the auctions you really need to know what to look for in the pics to determine if they do or do not have the markings.
There may be 1000's of them but there are 10's and 10's of 1000's of the standard US marked guns. So they are somewhat rare even if they are not collectible.

I've got one that I'll never sell. Got it on GB just as the craze began and immediately after I learned of their existence. Was in the market for 1 as it was so it worked out great.

My personnal opinion is that a Gock is a Glock is a Glock and the only special ones are the ones I own.

First post, w00t.
My Glock 19 has Austrian proofs. Seller had no idea, nor did I, until I got home and started looking up Glock 19 stuff.
Funny thing is I bought it in 2009, but according to the date code, VOH, it was made in 2006. I wonder where these things sat for three years!
Apparently they were surplus Glocks the United States ordered to supply the Iraqi police with. That's pretty badass. I think the fact I find them to be so interesting is that they represent a piece of history, and Austrian gothic eagles are pretty nifty.

Found one on GB for $415 a few days ago. Received it yesterday :D
I have been looking for awhile. This thing is mint! Can't believe I picked it up for so cheap...(I purchased it about an hour after it popped up on gb) it was not listed as an austrian marked glock but the pictures were good enough to where I could see atleast one proof Mark and the serial #...

I have a G17 with these proof marks...any difference in that? All the previous posts indicate G19s. I believe it is a gen1 or 2. There are no finger grooves on the frame. Any idea on this? Thank you

The Glock 17 from 1982 to 1991 were assembled and test fired in Austria, later handguns were assembled and test fired at Glock in Smyrna, GA (no proof marks). These early production handguns were marked with an Eagle and 'NPv'. The markings are the mentioned 'proof marks' and inspector's marks as required on Austrian handguns. The NPv mark means 'Nitro Powder Proofed' meaning it was test shot with 130% loads.
Is your grip smooth, or does it have some checkering on it? Trying to see if you have a Gen 1 or Gen 2.
