G35 Coming Home Soon!
Just bought a 3rd gen G35 from a local shop for $499 used.
I tried waiting and did locate a G24 only to find out they didn't sell to out-of-state buyers. So I figured, that slightly longer sight radius is not that critical to me.
Anyway, this G35 has pretty fresh night sights and a pair of LEO 15-round hi caps in great shape. Dealer is going to throw in a pair of low cap mags for me too! Gotta negotiate a better deal - always.
No pix yet as it is still under state holding period for a few more days.
Now I only plan to shoot lighter loads in this 40SW.
I will be using my copper plated bullets like Berry's or Rainers or some Montana Golds.
Do I need to get an aftermarket barrel?
No plans for it yet but it will be joining my G34 is the lineup

Congrats Duncan..
So they wouldn't ship the G24..
Those guys make holsters & don't have an FFL as far as I know if it's who I think it is..
Can't really tell you about Plated V.S. Jacketed bullets in the Glocks as all I've shot were Jacketed..
Good Luck & share some pictures when it graces you with it's presence..
Gary

Picked up a used G35 myself, a little while ago. Haven't shot it much yet; ammo is spendy compared to the 9mm, and my limited range time has been dedicated to other weapons. It "seems" to be slightly less accurate than my G34, so far, but I've only tried a few loads and I have to change out the sights before I'll make a final call on groupability (Glock adjustable rear = yuck, for me).
If you find any commonly available .40 factory ammo that groups especially well, I'd appreciate a heads-up.

Fellow Moderator - you must reload to prosper.
I will find a sweet load
BTW - I reload 155/165 grain 40SW rounds for about $30 more/1,000 rounds. $150 for 1,000 custom loads tuned to my gun's barrel.
Commercial factory ammo case is $300-360

I'm thinking my G35 would be great for
Steel plate shoots

I agree, and I am hoping it will work well for bowling pins, too. I went to a pin match last year for the first time in a long time (since the 80s?); I had fun using my Glocks, but I want a little bit more velocity and sight radius than a G22 offers.

I use my 24 for pins all the time - but we have a couple of shooters who reload (I don't) and use their 35 with fine results.

It's got a pair of nice night sights on board. Leave them or slap a Glock rear adjustable and a Hiviz front sight on there?

Unless I already know for sure that I don't like an accessory, if a used weapon comes along with something different installed, I try it out for a few sessions, at least. A used G34 I once purchased came with Big Dot night sights installed, and it took me 5-6 sessions before I figured out that while they were great for some applications (fast shooting up close), they were terrible for others (like decent accuracy past 15-20 yards). I took them off and sold them (cheap) to someone else who wanted to try them out. I think he came to the same conclusion, eventually.
Or maybe it's that "old(er) dog, new(er) tricks" thing. Hard to tell, sometimes.
