Those are just the standard stock plastic grips. I don't think there are any wood grips that are thinner. I put Nill grips on my 229 and found they are too fat for a double stack and replaced with the standard ones.
Now, I only have wood on the 232 and 239
And Crimson Trace on the 220...

I took off the (beautiful) wood grips off my 226 Elite and replaced them with Hogues. I thinking now of getting the new E2 series grips. They feel AWESOME! Very similar to a CZ75.

I like the P229 Gen 2 SAS . I don't like rails or bevertails on my Sigs.

In P226 I prefer the W. German folded steel slide models.

Were the West German folded steel slides superior to the German steel slides?
Did the German reunification in 1989 have an effect on the slides?
Why is a formed and welded carbon slide superior to a CNC machined stainless steel slide?

I never knew that they milled carbon steel slides, I was under the assumption they were all folded and welded.

I have no idea, my JK stamped (1989) slide was folded and welded, stamped "Made in W. Germany".

I just like the feel, and balance better, I guess it is just personal preference, and it just "seems" to exude quality craftsmanship to me.

I do not claim to be a Sig Sauer expert, these answers are just my opinion.

I prefer the older, In my case 1993 SIG Sauer P229 in 40 & 357 SIG.
I haven't handled one of the e2 SIGs yet but think the slimmer grips could be great..

It's not superior. It's different. carbon steel slides are lighter and only came with internal extractors. Stainless milled slides are heavier and the newer ones have external extractors, the older ones internal.

My comments in post #34 were rhetorical. The images shown are that of my all stainless steel P226ST. I cannot notice the 1.5 ounce weight differential between the carbon vs. one piece, CNC machined, stainless slide. Sig went to stainless in the new 229 to accomodate .40 S&W and .357 Sig pressure requirements in the 229 which later migrated to the 226.
Regardless, I prefer stainless.

Hey Cobra, I didn't realize those questions were rhetorical. I thought it was a newbie asking them. I shoulda taken the time to see who posted and I would have known better, .
One more thing. I never get tired of your pics.
