XM193 - why do the cases look so bad?

Most "M193"-type 5.56 ammo I seen online look like the below. What's the deal with the case? I assume it's just because of a shortcut made in the production process and doesn't harm function but it sure looks bad.

We don't know what your ammo looks like. Any way to post some pics of it?

That's what the case is supposed to look like. The cases are annealed, that is heat treated. Some vendors of commercial ammo polish the cases afterward to make them nice and pretty. The polishing just adds unnecessary time and cost to production.

Lake City and others skip the polishing step for military ammo.

I think he's referring to the discoloration of the case near the neck. I have no idea why it discolors like that but I have some other ammo (5.56) that is like that as well. I don't have any issue with it.

Besides it hides in a magazine so no one is looking.

I thought they did anneal but polished afterward. I could be wrong though.
