pulling bullets

i just got a bunch of hsm and bvac 5.56 75 grain tap clones in. i want to pull out the bullets on each to compare and inspect. ive seen pics and have heard of people doing this but it seems dangerous. do i just clamp my vise grips on the bullet and twist and pull? is this safe?

Take a spent 5.56 casing, place over the loaded cartridge whose bullet you want to remove, and wiggle around. This is how a Marine explained they did it when they wanted to burn some powder to start a fire.

Bullet puller

I use a Kenitic (sp?) bullet puller. Just make sure you remove the case you just pulled. Heard of them going off if you forget to remove the primecase that you just pulled the bullet from, them doing it again and the bullet
hits the primed case.

So how do I remove the primer? That's all the components right? Bullet, powder, primer, casing? So I pull the bullet, dispose of powder, then do what in regards to the primer?

Sorry, whut? Is that even English? You've obviously never used a kinetic puller before.

OP. Do the empty case trick or grab it with a pair of pliers. Who cares WTF you do with the powder and case, it's not like it's plutonium or anything. If you feel you have to "dispose" of it "properly" shoot in a little WD-40 and toss it in the trash. Done.

pliers will work if you don't mind ruining the bullet.
