Are the 300 AAC Blackout, 300 Whisper, and the 300 Fireball "interchangable" to some extent?
Are the 300 Whisper and the 300 fireball essentially the same cartridge that just gets around the copyright of the "whisper" name?
I read (on the internet ) that the 300 AAC has a longer throat so it would allow the 300 whisper to be shot in a weapon chambered for the 300 AAC...
The chamber dimensions for the Whisper and Blackout are 99% the same. The differences are in the throat. This allows the Blackout to be run at higher pressures than the Whisper family.
You do sacrifice some accuracy, but you gain oomph in the velocity dept.
Since AAC submitted the 300 BLK to SAAMMI, my 300 Whisper brass manufacturing side biz has been going nuts. I made over 100K pieces of brass last year.
