I believe a 1911 is in my near future...

I'm a total idiot when it comes to 1911's and after fondling them for some time I think it is time that I owned one. I want to stay under $600, and have heard great things about RIA. But I am also not afraid to buy used either.

I am actually afraid of that, and I am sure my wife is too. Still researching and looking for that one deal I can not walk away from.

.

If you're going to buy your first 1911, then do it right and get a Colt
Series 70.

Buy the gun that all the others try to copy.

It will cost a little more but it's worth it. Less MIM parts and a much
greater resale value than any of the others.

If you can't get a Colt then get a Springfield Armory Mil Spec.

I would advise you to hurry up and buy...lol

I was in the same boat a year ago looking to get into my first. The more that I have researched and held different guns the more my budget has grown for my first 1911.

I'll never sell the 23, it was my very first hand gun. Moved to a 26, didn't like it and sold it. My wife bought a 19, won't sell it either. We bought her a LCP yesterday for you CCW. Once she gets used to it we will move on to another and that will become a nice pocket gun for me, or under the seat gun around town.

I plan on getting more info before deciding. I just know at this time I want to remain under $600 for sure and closer to $500 for my first 1911. Once I become more familiar I will venture out to higher end guns. I just take issues with an EDC that costs over $700. I like my guns to take a beating and not feel so bad if they do.

Add me to the club. 20 was for the G20 that was always first out of the safe. I haven't had it to the range in about 6 months. However, I will never sell it. I may have to shoot down a spaceship or something sometime.

Don't forget about those pesky grizzly bears that are constantly on the prowl.
