i was looking at a knoxx and ati so far. as far as rattling, etc. which one of the ar type stocks is my best bet. i know some ar stocks have a crimp or locking mechanism that allows oit to be more stable and not rattle.

The Knoxx stock does not rattle and is very very solid/secure.

Why do you want an AR type stock?

I really like my RA style stock. SHorten it for the wife/kid, or indoors. Lengthen it for long shots, outdoors...Very handy, very flexible.
It is NOT a recoil reducing one like Knoxx however. Which is fine with me. I don't like the way the knoxx feels anyhow.

Get the Hogue 12" lop stock. Around $40 bucks and seems to be a good solution to the 14+" lop that seems to come stock. I don't like how the AR style stocks come straight back with no drop, leaving you to really crick your neck over to get your eye lined up with the sights.

Thats the big hit against AR style stocks, you essentially lose your ability to use the iron, or ghost ring sights without crushing your face into the telescopic butt stock.
With the Knoxx recoil reducing AR type stock, you can get hurt by it for just that reason.

Let me wager a guess, you're what, about sixteen years old?

you got it. 16. thats why im looking for a stock for my WIFE. since you are obviously one of those "have the last word" type of ppl, im assuming youll be back. my response was a light hearted joke, which obviously you are either too sensitive or too stupid to take. thank you for starting the name calling though... (and im the one who is 16?)

I shot almost 100 rounds today through my Mossberg Maverick 88 with Knoxx Recoil Reducing pistol grip stock. The "slap in the cheek" reputation is way overblown although it is difficult to get a good sight. But I only have a shotgun for self-defense so it's good enough for close range work.
A young man next to me with another Mossberg was a very good shot and he was able to hit skeet regularly when I offered to let him try my gun. He was amazed at how little recoil he felt. I could have shot the gun all day without any discomfort.
