Ameriglo Operators POA & POI?

Just put on a set of Ameriglo operators on my G19. Nice sights, like the contrast however, I notice they shoot low. Trying to diagnose the issue, has anyone else noticed your operators shooting low? These are the standard height operators for a g19. It very well maybe me as these are brand new sights and I need some time learning the sight picture.

What are the heights of the Ameriglo sights? Are they the same as the originals?

Yes it is the same height. I have a feeling it will take some time learning the sights.

Sounds like you already realize it, but that means it will shoot to the same POI as the originals. Sounds as if your eyes are being confused by the dots. You aren't trying to use the dots in daylight are you?

When I shoot at 7 yards the shots are hitting about 1.5 inches low when I use the tops of the sight on the bull. When I shift the sight picture to where the dot is on the bull the POI raises slightly but still a little low. What is annoying is that at times I will hit dead center bull. So, with that info I feel it is more me than the sights. The next height rear sight would put it too high.

I was trying to get a consensus as to whether others had an issue or not.

Hey buddy, I thought this was my thread for a moment lol. I recently posted the same question here: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1323711

I emailed Ameriglo and Rick Callihan said I could exchange the rear sight for a taller one. I sent my rear sight out yesterday. I'm pretty excited that they would do that for me!

If the new sight works, I'm hooked on Ameriglo. I'll be getting a set for my new G27 and other Glocks. I really like my Operator sights. I have thought about purchasing a proglo front sight. So I will probably purchase operator/proglo front for my G27 to see how that works out. If I'm going to run a dot-hold sight pic #1 it only makes sense at this point to go with the proglo front sight.

I measured my G26 Meprolight sights that I'm spot on with. Front sight=same as Ameriglo. Rear sight=Ameriglo taller sight.

I shot 1" groups at 5 yards. Maybe it's me, but it's not my trigger finger obviously. Maybe it's my eyeballs. To make sure I shot 500rds and they were all low. The examples I showed are around 1" groups. I even shot a .5" group that printed .5" low. The taller sight would put me right on target.

I will be sure to update my thread with my results. Thanks!

If your rear Ameriglo sight is taller than the Mep rear, the Ameriglo will shoot higher, not lower.

Chances are you're anticipating... yeah you can still shoot good groups so long as you're consistent with anticipating..

BDCREMER, you say sometimes you can hit dead on and other times you're low... chances are it's you and not the gun.

I say you guys should do lots of dry fire practice and work on keeping that gun motionless through the trigger pull and see if that makes any difference.

The new rear sight I'm getting is the same height as my Meprolight sight on my G26.

The Operators are .165/.256

My Meprolights on my G26 are .165/.272

Replacement rear will give me .165/272 on my G23

I was trying to say the Mepro front sight is the same height as Ameriglo. Rear Mepro sight on my G26 is the same as the taller Ameriglo sight ie: .272 that Ameriglo is sending me as a replacmenet.

I just got 2 sets of iDot Pros for my 17 and 26 and they both shoot low.

To hit dead center at 21 feet on the 17, the top of my rear sight has to be level with the bottom of the front sight.

The front sight is .220 inch. Its very disappointing for me because it took a lot of work to get them to me here in the bottom of the Philippines and will take a lot more to get them replaced.

On the 26, half the dot on the front sight is above the top of the rear sight.

If all glock slides are the same, I just cannot understand how this is possible if the sights were bought as a set for this particular gun. Can anybody enlighten me?

I did not have problems with the trijicon set I replaced.

I was going to order the I dot pro's, but I started to think about the XS Big Dot's I tried and did not like them, and was shooting way off with them. They were used, so they could have been slightly messed up anyway. The I dot's used a similar principal(KInd of dotting the I ) so I am not sure I would like them.

So what I am going to do since I am used to traditional 3-dot sights is...I am going to order the same Pro-Glo front sight the I-Dot's use, and combine it with the Yellow Pro Operater rear's. I emailed Rick about this combo to ask if it would work on my G26, and he said it would. Hopefully they work out.
