Which shoots better?

Please put aside your preferences for MIM vs. tool steel small parts, Swartz saftey hating, or admiration for SA Custom shop work.

Which is the better shooter?

Why?

Kimber Super Match

or

Springfield Professional

Thanks.

I have never shot a Kimber that has been in the same ballpark as the SA Professional. They are one of the most accurate 1911's I have ever had the pleasure to shoot.

So you have shot a Super Match, and the Pro was a better shooter for you?

I would say the SA shoots better due to the hand fitting and just more attn to detail. The brand/grade and way the barrel is fit is prob the biggest reason. I've heard a lot of people say that the Gold Match is the most accurate 1911 they've owned, however I don't know what others they have fired.

Dave has experience shooting a LOT of high-end 1911s. I would take him at his word.

Are these perspectives based on shooting both weapons?

Thank you very much.

BTW, if you have a KSP, then you can shoot it against my Pro Op or TGO-1 and make your own decision.

The TGO1 is a better comparison, as its designed as a range gun like the Super Match.

I did a comparison on mine not long ago.

Check out my shooting comparison above.

The TGO1 was the clear winner, but the Kimber Super Match is one of my favorite production 1911s.

Well there you go OP. As for the Pro, carried mine today. Excellent defensive pistol. I did have John Harrison put in one of his short triggers. Much mo betta...

Kimber is like HS football compared to the "PRO's" when comparing the two.

Production made with sketchy quality of parts and bad CS vs. handfitted, and the best CS in the game

But the SA Pro doesn't say Custom Shop on the slide, and the Kimber does, so the SA can't be nearly as good.

We all know that Kimber's Custom Shop is the best. Look how many come out of there. Name another TRUE Custom Shop that has a production line. That just goes to show how good Kimber's CS really is.

Those are nice and all, but SA takes a year to build one, and they fumble around with that TGO thing so much, that they've only been able to put out about 160 of them. While Kimber spits out CS guns like a country boy spittin' out water melon seeeds on a hot summer day. Just ain't no comparison at all.

I have never seen a gun shoot for itself. There has always been a person behind one. The question should be, for those of you that own and shoot the Kimber Super Match and Springfield Professional on a regular basis, which one do you shoot better with and why?

The question was answered, just not the way you wanted it. I dont own either but friends have the super pro and professional. My findings were: My $600 Spartan was more accurate then anything Ive ever shot from Kimber. Its an unfair comparison because the Spartan is a 9mm so less perceived recoil, but back to how the question was answered.

The Pro is a hand fitted, custom built 1911. Hence there is more ATD when fitting parts, so while the SC may be accurate, it is impossible for it to be more accurate than a SA PRO(unless theres something wrong with the PRO). Will the shooter see the difference in accuracy? That is dependent on the shooter. Good enough answer for ya?

To sum up my test, I really found no significant difference in accuracy with me shooting them from a rest.

Is the TGO1 (or Pro) a better 1911? Hell yes, much better in fact.

However, the accuracy of the Super Match is very impressive.

Not to get into kimber verus semi custom debate ,i own a kimber gold match series 1 one of the first ones out and it is as smooth and tight and is as accurite as my les baer 1.5 tatacal and my rra limited match which is a target gun which says alot . It dosent have the fit and finish as the latter two guns but it runs with them . if my pro shows up some day. After a very long wait ,i will have to compare them both together .

I'd worry more on which gun was set up to your liking better as I'd put good money that you'd never know the difference in mechanical accuarcy. One may shoot better than the other for a particular individual due to a higher grip, better trigger, etc. That being said, I'll bet the SA saw more attention to the ignition and barrel.
