Private Investigators...
Just curious how may Private Investigators we have one here? I read somewhere someone was thinking of starting a forum for P.I.'s and Security Professionals as well, but it never went anywhere... Just curious if there was any interest in this still? I have thought about starting a forum like this, so I wanted to gauge interest... Sorry if asking this is against the TOS on here... If so, feel free to delete it...
Also, I know this isn't 1911 related, but this is the only forum I post in, and you guys are the only ones I talk to...

So I think what you meant to ask was if anyone on the board happened to carry a 1911 and be in the PI line of work and maybe if there was interest in a type of forum where other PI types might want to share PI 1911 stories?

The sash Rocks. Put that over a "shoot me first vest" and you are now qualified to work in any gun store in all 50 states.

After retiring from a local LEO dept, my former Chief and I started an investigation organization. We had insurance, bonding, and licenses issued to do business. We managed to land a few security projects, attorney work, and a little detective work.
When our insurance carrier asked if we were armed or not the premium soared to $10,000.00. Even though we did a little security work, we had to insure to 1.0 million in liability. We dropped the armed work and premium dropped to $4,000.00. Then the state raised the license minimum to 1.0 mill. just for investigators. We dropped out, closed the doors. Yes, we carried 1911As for protection. For our 18 months we barely paid for insurance, rent, licenses and a little take home. Could have made more at the casinos.

What doe's it entail to obtain a PI license? Not looking for full time work, maybe a few side jobs to make a few extra bucks, plus in my state the PI license get's that little "exempt from pistol free zones" box checked on my CPL.
