Good 1911 Books/DVD's
Can anyone recommend a good book/dvd/website with information about detail stripping, assembly, fitting parts, etc. for 1911 pistols? I don't have a specific project in mind, just want to learn more about the platform. It would be great if there's a good book or dvd available on Amazon as I have some credit there.

Jerry Kuhnhausen shop manuals, especially Vol.1
For Videos, Wilson Combat and AGI videos are pretty good.
For more info, look at 10-8perfomance.com he has an article on reference material.

Very good, very technical.
There were some NRA books that were on the 1911 that cover pretty much total disassembly. The NRA has had them in print for 30 or 40 years, yet they are still relevant. They should be able to be purchased from the NRA.
I have several of the Patrick Sweeney books.
Gunsmithing Pistols and Revolvers.
Book of the 1911 Vol 1
Book of the 1911 Vol 2
Big Fat book of the .45 ACP
1911 the first 100 Years.
I would recommend any of his books, but only as a companion to Kuhnhausen.
The 1911 the first 100 Years is a new book that is pretty much a history lesson with great color shots of some very rare guns.

Kuhnhausen for technical info, Sweeney for history and how we got here. I just finished the first 100 years and recommend it to any 1911 aficionado.

It is a great book.
I just received my copy the other day, but am just part way through it.
There are a lot of great historical shots that many of us will probably never see anywhere.
Cost: Less that 20.00
