Remington 870 Cleaning & Loctite

I recently picked up an 870 Express Synthetic. I have installed a TacStar side saddle and a CDM BMT mount with a Streamlight TLR-1s.

The side saddle instructions say to use Blue Loctite on the screws, and I would think Loctite on the BMT mount would be a good idea as well. However, both of these components require removal in order to field strip the gun for cleaning.

So my question is, how often do these guns really need to be cleaned to ensure reliability? I really don't want to Loctite screws that need to be removed routinely. Has anybody experienced these screws loosening without Loctite?

Run it without locktite. If things loosen, then use it.

I think the blue Loctite is designed to allow "easy" removal of the screw -

By easy I mean you can still remove it without much trouble -

The red is the one that will require you to use heat before you remove the screw.

But if you are going to remove the screw every time you clean I would not bother using any Loctite.

I have the TacStar and hate it. The thing constantly comes loose.

I clean my shotgun every time I shoot it; not the entire interior of the reciever, but I do remove the barrel, forend and bolt. Even after a match with only two short shotgun stages, the sidesaddle will loosen; and yes, all the bolts are loctited.

Blue loctite is not going to be any problem to remove. Red probably wouldn't be either, given the small amount of female threads.

The TacStar has no resilient dampening effect, and the females in the backing plate are aluminum. The Vang Comp DSAC is the only design I've seen that appears to solve these two problems.

I don't consider the TacStar to be a serious piece of gear, but it's been good enough for me to learn on thus far. Just be sure you check ALL the bolts frequently - as in, at lunch if you are doing an all-day class or other activity with lots of shooting.
