I'll admit it, I love bubba guns. Call it what you want, sporterized, bubbah'd, tacticool'd, Show off your milsurp pieces!

I'm looking for inspiration for my m91, these have me intrigued.

A lot of people are like that, and I can't see the reason for maintaining historical accuracy of something they made 15 million of. Some purists think any scope besides the PU is sacrilege. Just because there are many like it doesn't mean mine has to match. My $1/50th.

I guess if adding non original stuff makes it a sporter, here is one of my toys.

The adapter and can holder are modern make. The tripod is a german MG-42 anti-aircraft tripod. The gun was an original USGI FA rifle til the owner of the shop retired. It was dismantled and the RSP and associated parts destroyed. I had it rebuilt and converted to semi by Mountain Creek Industries. Only thing not GI is the feed guide (modified Israeli 308 to feed 8mm, and the barrel swapped with an 8mm version)

That's pretty damn neat! I like the semi-auto of it, no tax stamp to deal with, what was it's original caliber? Silly question, how do you aim it?

orig caliber was 30-06. at the time it was converted, 8mm was about 5cents a round. the sights can be seen in the first and 2nd pics. they are flipped up in the use position. they are on the front and rear of the receiver

usually i just move it while watching impacts. if the range will allow, tracers can be used, but they are really expensive in 8mm

1909 Argentine Mauser. It now sports a Douglas Premium barrel in 243 Win. & Burris Tactical FFII 4.5-14x42AO.
These impacts on the mild steel plates was with Hornady 58 gr VMax/Varget powder at 200 yards.

Hiding in back is a Springfield 1903 SA (mfg 1920) rebarreled in 30-06. A SUPERB hunting rifle. (more data below)

Below other rifles are:
front-1903 SA (1910), 1903 Rem (1942), 1903A3 SA (1943), 1903A3 SC (1943) Chrome ROTC presentation rifle (fully functional- not a drill rifle)
I'm missing a 1903 with Peterson Cut

I took off the Weaver mounts and installed a Leupold one piece base and same Leupold VX-II, 2-7x32.
I also have an old but perfect Lyman All American 4X target dot like this rifle may have worn post WWII.
Some day I may install a 1903A4 barrel and A4 stock to make a "wana-be 03A4." But I don't like the original
scopes used before 1950.

I also have a Mauser K98 sporterized in 30-06 but no pictures handy. It is my loaner rifle if I take
someone hunting. It has a Leupold VXII 1-4X 20 scope. I've only shot steel or peper with it-
a few friends have killed deer and a moose with it. First, everyone says it's not the prettiest rifle
they ever saw, after they shoot it every single person has tried to buy it. It's my ugly duckling- but a real killer.
