What are some loads that you guys have used with longshot? Im looking into getting into lead loads but have not had much luck finding data. Most of everything is either different powders, or if its longshot its fmj/hp/xtp.
Wideners has 155gr swc for 65 bucks. Any other places with low cost lead?
I use SnS Casting 175gr LSWC's (WWW.SNSCASTING.COM)
My load is Starline brass, 175gr LSWC, CCI #300 primer and 8.0gr of Longshot.
This load was developed in and for my G20SF and may not be good in yours so take care.
There is a very small amount of leading by the 50th or 60th round.
Longshot is a great powder for hot rodding bullets in the 10mm, but it not good for plinking loads.
1st is burns pretty dirty when not pushed hard
2nd soft cheap lead bullets don't like to be pushed
3rd longshot not super consistent in a progressive loader
Thanks dwarren, whats the hardness rating of those bullets? Any ideas? And i just ordered a kkm barrel yesterday, so should save my brass and be more forgiving on the leading. Pretty excited to try it out!
I like to run longshot on the hot side, just not nukes. I have found longshot is fairly consistent within .1 gr, if kept clean. I swab the drop tubes before every loading session.
Just found SNS's hardness rating on their website. BHN of about 17. Thanks again.
Any other loads for different weights? I found my reloading book to be fairly useless for 10mm lol. None of the powders I like, and not even close to max.
