Finally got a rifle rest.

Been wanting one for a while. Took the AR to the range the other day and this is what happened.

I'm new at this whole shooting thing... are those good groups for 25 yards?

I don't shoot cast bullets in the AR. I have heard the crap will plug up the gas system quick. This is what I'm loading.

Mixed 223/5.56 brass
Hornady 55 grain FMJ-BT
Magteck SRP's
25 grains of H335

That's a good idea... the barrel doesn't even stick out one yard.

Having a nice rest is a different world. I'm shooting off a crummy plastic thing or a rolled up towel. Too cheap to buy a nice one.

I'm really liking loading the Hornady 55 grain FMJ-BT w/c, good 55g bullet. I'm loading it with TAC at 24.5 for plinking I get 1.3 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards using a red dot. 25.2g and they tightened up to about half of that.
Greatest thing about that bullet is it's real easy to load. I don't even have to chamfer or deburr using my RT1200 to trim.

I bought the Caldwell Lead Sled Plus a few months ago myself, Rusty. It makes a difference having a nice rest. Great groups, bro!

I can honestly say even at $300 for the set-up...once you use it. You'll forget all about how much you spent on it

Besides, it's a Dillon.... 2 years from now it will still sell for 80% of what I paid for it, should I choose to let it go

3 shot groups are nice. 5 shots are (obviously) when it gets harder.

Yea I loaded some flat base and then used these and will never go back to a flat base bullet. I think they are pretty good groups for a cheap bullet. Thanks everybody.

It's arguably the most accurate economical 55g FMJ available. I'm very pleased with it too
