Punched Out Breech Faces
The punched out breech face phenomena and it's possible link to dry firing has me confused.
Tens of thousands of Glocks have been dry fired tens of thousands of times for a decade w/o snap caps, but now just recently we have all seen the "punched out" breech faces of a few slides, presumably on late model (Gen 3) Glocks.
This doesn't seem to square with all the many "torture tests" like Chuck Taylor's, where Glocks survive 200K+ rounds and all sorts of dry firing and abuse and keep on running.
Can the breech face incidents really be attributed to dry firing, or, perhaps a batch of out of spec slides?
Hopefully, dry firing isn't behind this, since one has to dry fire to disassemble the weapon.
I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the matter.
