Moving from Mich. to Tenn. this year. Have a concealed carry permit for Mich. Do I have to take a "course" to get a permit in Tenn.? Have been told yes and no. Thanks

From the states website.. http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/apprequirements.htm

Michigan

Applicant must be twenty-one (21), complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application, provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, and pay the applicable renewal fee.

(Michigan requires the applicant to be fingerprinted and complete a safety course.)

So it seems that you do not have to take the safety course.

I can confirm you don't need a new class and you just pay the renewal fee to get a permit. BTDT
