Glock buys Kimber!

Caught this news on the interweb today. Maybe our Glock 1911 is not as far as we thought.

(AP) Noted handgun manufacturer Kimber Manufacturing, Inc. of Yonkers, New York has signed an "agreement in principle" to sell it's manufacturing facilities and all rights to the design, manufacture and sale of its world renowned line of 1911 style handguns to Glock USA.

Gaston Glock, speaking before 30 reporters at a press conference in Austria announced the consummation of a protracted series of negotiations and stated that the deal will "shake up the entire handgun manufacturing community."

Mr. Glock was also quoted as saying "Kimber has produced an excellent line of weaponry for many years - we will now take their product to the next level through the Glock process of perfection."

Financial analysts have been predicting consolidation in the firearms industry for some time, and are openly speculating that Gaston Glock may well have already set his sights on Springfield Armory, another highly regarded manufacturer of high quality handguns.

This may be just what the gun world needs. Plastic 1911's with a gap between the slide and frame big enough to count the coils on the recoil spring.

LOL yeah why do I doubt this as well???

Glock wants nothing to do with Kimber IMO.

That being said it would allow Glock into the lucrative 1911 market in a big way. I can see that being a smart business move for them.

Well Glock might get Kimber's to be more reliable. I heard they were planning on removing all the MIM parts also. I just wonder if they're gonna offer a tennifer finish on one of their 1911's? Or start offering 1911's in 45GAP?

Post by: Spiff on April 01, 2007, 09:09:09 AM <hr> ETA: after posting this, I'm not sure it's true. I can't fined anything more about it. HAHA, not only that but I forgot that today was April 1st, so it's probably just a joke. My bad, I fell for it.

And now another US company, is no longer American owned.

Even better could you see a dual recoil spring 1911 with a polymer frame shooting 45gap.
