'high capacity' single stack

Just saw a 10 round .45 cal magazine for sale on one of the typical sites. It looked to have the typical "flush fit" flat bottom instead of looking like it would over extend the grip. My question is since they can make a 10 round .45, why is it that you don't find an 11 round or higher 9mm single stack magazine?

Its probably just due to a lack of demand or need in any competition class but I sure would be interested.

There are no single stack 10 round 1911 mags in 45ACP that wouldn't extend past the frame.

The standard high cap / extended 1911 .45 magazine was 11 rounds before the ban. Even though the ban is gone, 10 rounds make more sense as they are better suited for the shooting sports. It should be noted that most of the 10 round magazines of today are far better quality than some of the 11 rounders that I have come across or the few I still own.

I see the same thing with higher capacity than 10 at gun shows all the time around here. Just some cheap crap IMO.

Not true, mine is 12 + 1 flush fit.

The 10 round mags extend quite a bit. The CMC's have a basepad that cover a lot of the extra mag body, the wilsons do not. I have a few CMC's and WC's and they all work flawlessly, but there really isnt a practical use for them. I bought the WC's for my NH Predator that should be here shortly because it will be my HD gun. They are actually not allowed in competition. IDPA they are not legal, and you can use them in IPSC in limited or open, but no one does because the platform is at a disadvantage due to its limited capacities. Both those divisions are populated with STI 2011's and Glocks because of the large capacites(16-24 rounds) that you can get in the gun dependent on the caliber. If I have some time, I will get some pics up tomorrow of what the gun looks like with both mags in the gun

Actually, they are allowed in Limited-10 where they are very popular and quite competitive. Rob Leatham won the first Limited-10 Nationals shooting a 6" single stack with 10 round magazines.

Because 9mm has a considerable taper to the case. A 10 round 9mm P magazine is really pushing the envelope for loading and feeding. A 10 round .38 Super magazine is reasonably common. There aren't any longer ones because there is no great demand. The 12-15 rounds you could get in one would not make it competitive with a double stack action.

Since you didn't mention 1911 in the OP.....sure there are plenty.
