Thinking of a New One...make it stop

I must have hit my head pretty good at work, because for some reason, I'm thinking about a new 1911. I don't plan to order until late winter/early next spring since I have to recover from an upcoming Novak build and tuition , but like planning ahead.

I have no idea if this pistol will be more for range use or have the chance of being a CCW, I'm pretty content with my current choice so . I'm budgeted for ammo and two training classes for 2012 so I'm not worried too much about buying another pistol. I'm on the fence about selling one or two pistols to fund this new one, but I'm having trouble making my mind up.

Anyway, my three choices.

1. Wilson Tactical Elite- Dunno why. I like my CQB, took it to the range the other night and am thinking Wilson might be my favorite for a few good reasons. Another CQB built to my specs is another option, but I kind of like the cone barrel on the TE, something different.

2. Guncrafter No-Name - I know the owners seem to speak highly of them, which intrigues me. I would like to see some long-term tests of one but understand they are fairly new. Anyone know where I can find a report of one torn down? I'd like to see how they look inside.

3. Ed Brown Executive Elite - I wasn't overly impressed with a buddy's SF from TX, however, I wasn't impressed with Wilson at first and ended up with a great one. Maybe the same would happen if I bought one.

4. ??? - Not looking at "customs," the Wilson is about the most I'm willing to spend.

Like I said, I don't know if I should just control my urge and save the money or say the hell with it. It's not like I need it, just have the opportunity to get one. I've cut my buying down dramatically, so this very well could be one of the last pistols I buy.

Maybe I'll hit myself in the head and come to my senses.

Out of those, probably the Guncrafter.

Its an exceptional 1911.

SACS Custom Carry Champion.

Sorry man, couldn't resist. Since you already have a Wilson, I've vote Brown EC or a bobtailed 4.25" No Name.

I don't go for any 1911 under 5", not anymore. I have thought about a 5" with a BT though.

Whoops. Misread your OP. If you want something different and probably won't carry it, how about a Centennial EE? I want to shoot Lawdog's NN to see what all the hoopla is about myself.

I tell myself I won't use it for carry but cannot say for sure. I'm considering putting my Wilson or NH through either Vickers or Redback One training class (since these are my two planned classes late this year/early next) and if they perform, I'll consider carrying a 1911 again.

With that said, I still find it hard to buy something and not think about carrying it sometimes. I thought about buying a shoulder holster and a cheesy 70's suit so I could carry my 6" S&W 29, but that's an inside joke.

I do like the looks of an EB, and do like the Centennial, so I might add that to the possibilities.

You won't see that many down the road since EB is only making them this year, so it would be something sort of unique.

I know Brown and Wilson are many times as big, been around much longer, and, therefore, much more popular than GC. However, I honestly believe Guncrafter builds a better 1911 than Brown and any Wilson outside the Super Grade.

Unfortunately, they're a much smaller company without the means or the advertising power of the other two.

I usually don't think about down the road much, but you have a point. It really reminds me of the Sheriff Wilson model they did a few years ago.

I had a Wilson Cone barrel'ed gun which was really accurate, but in the end I felt it threw off the balance for me. Could be that I was just not used to it.

My vote goes for a CQB elite.

I only buy 1911s in 45ACP.

All of mine are in the same caliber.

You better watch yourself making fun of him, I saw him at the gym once. He's pretty mean to inadament objects when he's interrupted during his 100 rep curls .
