suggestions on a trolling motor

looking for a electric trolling motor for an alum 12' row boat under 200.00.

try basspro, do you need 12 or 24 volts? Are you looking for foot controls? Salt or Freshwater ?

For that price, you'll likely not find anything worth using if your shopping for new because even the very economical ones will be $250 and up... The most reasonable price motors will be in the 12v, tiller operated, 30lbs. thrust or less category... The demands for the rig you mentioned will be quite low, so these figures will be sufficient... Quality brands will be Motor Guide and MinnKota, but maybe a more affordable brand will be just fine if you don't use it alot...

Are you floating a pond and or lake or are you going in the river? If any current I would suggest the Minn Kota 55 transom mount motor for $246 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Minn-Kota-...Shaft/15686838

If you are just fishing ponds and small reservoirs then the 40 to 50 pound would be fine. You can get the 50 pound thrust transom mount for $228 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Minn-Kota-...Motor/15686835

Ill be on a large lake,no foot controls,jjust a basic Elec.Motor to push 2-4 people.

Foot control is nice, but not handy in a regular v hull boat.

I'm amazed how well my 55 pushes my 14' Griz around even at lowest speed. I almost could have gone to a lighter motor.

Those are great suggestions... A 50 lbs. thrust motor will be more than plenty for a 12' boat... I fished for years in a 14' jon boat, 2 guy's, 2 batteries, 9.9 outboard, and ample tackle and my trolling motor was a 28 lbs thrust... There were times when I could've used more trying to fish into the wind, current, heavy vegetation, pulling off of stumps etc. but regardless we went many miles and caught many fish... Heck, I'm thinking about buying on these mentioned...
