G29 carry?

Right now I pocket carry a G26 in an AHolster...I have for years. It is an awesome setup!! However, I like the idea of having the added power of the 10mm. I'm curious if anyone pocket carries a G29? Is it do-able?

Thanks!

Gonna need paints with BIG pockets. Almost the same size as a G19 (just a shorter butt). The 29 is a good choice though. Maximum power out of the smallest size.

I used to carry one daily, but I could never swing pocket carry. Its a little too big for that. It is very comfortable in a regular strong side holster though. It is an awesome gun--you will love it!

Something I think will help is by sharing your thoughts on pocketing a G26 as well...because most think that is not pocketable...and I've done it for years.

Thanks

There is close to 12oz more weight over the 26. This of course, is depending on bullets.

IWB a g-20, EDC.

I have had g-30 in the past,. and pocketed it in a single pair of cargo shorts i had, but it pulled that leg noticeably. rear back pocket was tolerable. holster carry solves the problem.

I have pocketed a G26 but needed jeans to get it in the pocket. Did it once or twice with BDUs with success. Flopped around too much in cargo pcokets. Never tried either my 29 or 30 this way.

I have a friend who carries his G29 in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster in his front pocket. I couldn't comfortably get away with it, but he is 6'2" and 275 lbs. I guess that it'll depend if it's comfortable for you or not. With roomy pockets, it should be fine. Good luck.

You'll probably hear comments like "is that a G29 in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

Pocket carrying a G29 would not be my first choice of carry. I carry my 29 in a Combat Master holster. It's my woods carry side arm. For CCW the 27 is my go to choice, as the 29 weight is heavier for daily carry it gets old fast! The 27 gets to be a perfect hardly noticeable package, and as a CCW carry the 27 never weights me down. For pocket carry the 26/27 would be a better choice IMO...
Unless you're planning on carrying in the woods the added weight that goes with the added power is not a good trade off, consider a G27 or G23 for a good power to weight package..
Over and Out..

I carry a G29 everyday (IWB Crossbreed Supertuck) and I honestly can't see how you're going to pocket carrying the monster, at least not comfortably. The weight with a fully loaded magazine is enough to make me cringe thinking of having to run with that in my pocket (I think a cup would be a requirement if any running will be involved). I carry with an additional two magazines and the combined weight of the gun and three mags made it almost a necessity to wear suspenders. I prefer the Perry Outback http://perrysuspenders.com/bpesu.html.

Now don't get me wrong; I think the G29 is a fantastic gun and has all the firepower you'll probably need for a carry pistol, however there is a trade off when it comes to carrying the thing; it's not as compact as a G26 and fully loaded it weighs a heck of a lot more. I wouldn't give mine up for the world and in fact I may be picking up a G20 to use as my primary carry pistol subjegating the G29 as my backup.

i guess being a cop and wearing a 20 pound gun belt for 12+ hours a day, a G20 on the hip with a spare mag on the other isnt even noticable....but pocket carry my G29? hardly.

Personally if I was gonna carry the 29 (a real good gun BTW) I'd use a belt slide and get some company like Bowie Tactical to do a grip reduction. Add a NY-1 trigger and Pierce floor plate and that roscoe would be good to go.

But pocket carry. Mighty heavy piece for that unless you have some real sturdy pockets that don't drag down easy.

This is how I carry my 29. Pocket carry... no way I could. BTW, I am 6'3" and weigh 230.

The 29 just weighs too much to make pocket carry practical.

My G30 (I have a 10mm conversion barrel on order) is one of my 'cool weather" carry guns when I can wear a jacket or vest. Even my G26, G33 and G36 is a bit much for pocket carry, those I carry in appendix carry position with a DeSantis Insider IWB holster.

That's why I'm buying the 29SF, there's no need for a grip reduction.
