I knew this was going to happen. Didn't know it would hurt like this.
Prayers to all...

I think in the back of our minds we all knew it would happen someday, but we all hoped that day would never come. May he Rest in Peace and may his family cope with this burden placed upon them.

I am a Police Officer in a suburb of Memphis. I had friends on this scene. I can't express how sad this makes me.

ive been to cop's funerals who were killed in the line of duty, whom i knew personally. it is a heart wrenching thing to do and i cant even put in words how it made me feel.
i hope none of you ever have to do this again, for me or anybody (GT CT)you know.
there is nothing that can help his family other than financial support, and time.....the kids lost their father, and that can never be replaced.

Hammered close to home in the GT sense.
The very best we as the CT/GT family can do is make sure his family has the personal and financial support they need for the future.
Smoke and prayers to him, his family and to my brothers and sisters in that region.

I know I didn't know him that well, but I pray for him and his family, and those whom were close to him. May he rest in peace, and may his family's grief be soothed well with those who can can be close to them.

When you become aware of the funeral arrangements, please advise ASAP.
Thanks,

I remember "Anvil."
Unfortunitely, my concern is that he won't be the last CTer to die in the line of duty.
Although it may seem like LE is a "big job" consisting of many, many LEOs, the reality is that given the risks and fatalities that can occur anywhere and at anytime, there are bound to be present and future CT LEOs who are going to become statistics.
If you think about it, there are already a number of CT LEOs who have suffered serious line-of-duty injuries or engaged in OIS. The good news is they survived.

RIP Brother,
May the Sheep someday be grateful.
There’s a debt they can not pay
To the Sheepdogs who lay it on the line
Each and every day.
I am proud to be a Sheepdog.
I've done my very best.
I'll stand my watch until my Maker
Calls me home to rest.
But when I meet St. Peter
There's just one request I’ll make,
“Please let me spend Eternity
Standing guard at Heaven's Gate”.
Lord, help us bring this ''Age of Sheep''
To a rapid end.
Then fill this land with Sheepdogs,
Men of Honor, once again.
This prayer is dedicated
To those who bravely face,
The dangers all around us,
To make our world a safer place.
To the soldiers, cops and warriors-
Sheepdogs through and through.
Thank you for your service
And your sacrifices too.
Amen

Oh wow, I had no idea he was a member here.
RIP, brother.
I agree with BigBR's suggestion!

Tim and I attended the MPD academy together back in 2003. He stayed there and I moved on to a smaller suburbs department 3 years later. Prayers en-route.

I have wondered on occasion when it would strike closer to home. I think that creating a memorial tag would be most appropriate.

RIP brother. Prayers to his family and those that knew him. Celebrate the sentence of life, not punctuation.
