Dude is selling himself short. He could easily get $3,200 for it.

Not surprised at all from STG. I visited the "shop/garage" once passing through on the way back to Phoenix and most items were priced high. Nice guys that I talked to though.

Ditto. Although someday I think I want at least one railed 1911. But it won't be a real pricey one.

It's not a bad price honestly. New Pro's are around $2700-2800, so beating the wait makes it balance out for some. Now, if it was an old used model for $3K... Makes me consider getting mine refinished and posting it .
The last railed model I saw came with a fully-ramped barrel...wonder why

I agree with Lawdog. The only railed model I like the looks of. (But not for 3200.00)

Factory test firing, some window lickers possible racking the slide a few times, along with how soft Black-T is would make sense.

I hear you, Joe.
I just never think I could buy one.
If I had a need for one, it would be different.

Pro
I own a Springfield Professional. I've owned several full customs and several semi-customs. The Pro really is worth 3K in my opinion both for quality and function. I only have one pistol I like better. Apply the analogy of Randall Knives, the "wait" from the day of order until delivery is quite long. A portion of the price of used Randal's is an offset for not having to wait 5 years. I've read on other boards of people waiting approx. 24 months to get a Pro. They are worth the wait though. A $200-$400 premium for a two year wait is not unreasonable. Also if not abused a few hundred rounds down the tube is "break in" rounds you don't have to pay for.

It nice, but for $3K Im going to get a Wilson, Nighthawk, Ed Brown or a Les Baer over a Springfield. I am sure they are exceptional guns, but for that money I want one of the big name 1911's in my safe.
Call me pretentious but that's my view on it.

Im with you on the NH or WC, but not the others. SACS is very prestigious among the 1911 world. They make the "Professional" for a few Gov't agencies. They are much better quality in my experience than LB or EB.
Does Springer use the same frame as Colt does on the Rail Gun?

Pro
I would not put the Wilson, Night Hawk, or Les Bare (I've not owned an Ed Brown) automatically over a Springfield Professional. Maybe individual pistols luck out and might be found to be better. I have a Les Bare Mono Heavy that I like "better" (on some days). I don't think I've owned anything that is a better "combat/fighting" hard nosed 1911. There are no bells & whistles in design or execution on a Pro - it is all serious business executed very well.
Just to contrast. My 10X custom has serrated flat top, French Borders, different machining on the front (sleepy and can't remember the technical name) vertical serrations on the rear, no front serrations, and several other artistic, aesthetic touches. The Pro has NOTHING. However there is a beauty in functional simplicity. I view the PRO as a SERIOUS pistol (if that makes any sense). I think it the ultimate fighting 1911. And if I knew I was going to a fight that's the 1911 I'd take EVERY TIME.
