New Glock 23 Owner

Greetings from Texas!

I am the proud new parent of a brand new G23 Gen 4 and love it! This in addition to her sister, G27.

I wanted to buy a glock 23. However, I was told that gen 3 is the only one available here in my place. They cannot say when will the gen 4 be here. Am already excited to get one though there is no real needs. Do I need to wait for the gen 4 or should I go with the gen 3? Please advise.

I had the option to pick up a Gen3 in stock but forwent it in order to wait the 3 days for my supplier to receive a Gen4 just for me. And in my opinion, I am sooo glad I did. I like the Glock grip hump on the sub-compacts, but not on the mid and full sizes. So the new grips without the adapters feel much better in my hand! I would seek out the new versions if you can.

Also another plus for me was that I found out my prior military service was credential enough for me to qualify for the LEO discount, so that's what I did! Saved over $100 in doing that. So, that cash went into some XS big-dot night sights. Now my 27 and 23 both have the exact same sight picture.

So, about time to pour some lead through it and give us a range report on the new 23. And congratz, hope it runs as good as my gen 3!

Range report:

Ran 50 rounds of MagTech 185gr FMJ through. Not one hiccup. Recoil was stout as to be expected. Was able to maintain grip on new stock pattern just fine, perhaps even better than the Gen 3 pattern. I'm in Vegas for the week, so I am separated from her. Can't wait to get back and run more ammunition through!

My favorite Glock! I like the 180 gr. rounds through it, and when carrying, I go with the 165 gr. Speer Gold Dot LE or Hornady Critical Defense.

Congratulations on the new addition!

Anyone using the Federal HSTs through thier 40's? I am, but I have not tested them through wet media yet. I used to own the G39 and tested with the 45GAP HST, and the results were nothing short of HELLACIOUS! The expansion was just wicked!

I've ran 165g HST's through my gen 4, G23 and they ran perfect.

Chad,

I just got a Gen3. Other than the grip and texture of the Gen4 are there any internal differences?

There are some very minor differences, hard to explain though.

The main change is the dual recoil spring assembly of the Gen4.

I just picked one up last month. Went to the range yesterday and shot it for the second time and I'm really liking my purchase. I decided on the 23 after shooting my friends 22 a few months ago. That led me to check out the .40 cal Glocks. Enjoy!
