The "Compact" XD is a XD-45 with the grip shortened. As such, it is identical in length and only shorter (by 3/4") in height (comparing it to the other XD-45, of course...comparing it to the 9/40 XD's would be silly). The XD Compact comes in either "Service" or "Tactical" (4" barrel or 5" barrel).
Take a look at the XDm Compact 9mm.
6.750" Overal Length
4.750" Overall Height
That makes it just a bit smaller than the G19, but it's as close as any of the XD/XDm models get...the XD-45 Compact Service being the only other contender in size but it's a different caliber.
But since it was the XDm 5.25 that impressed you, it would be real silly to get something smaller and expect it to be as sweet a shooter as the 5.25.
