Sti trojan 9mm ???

Cant decide on the 5 inch or 6 inch model
This is going to be my range/competition gun
Will the 6 inch recoil less because of its longer slide ?
Do you think the 6 inch is "more accurate" than the 5 inch?
I would prefer the 5 inch....BUT if the 6 inch is more accurate with less felt recoil......then i would wanna go that way
Its alot of $$ and i wanna make the right choice
Has anyone shot both??

what type of competition?
depending on what you are going to use it in, the 6" might be too long.

The 1911 I shoot the best is a springer .45 longslide and love it. Not a 9mm but the long slide shoots great for me. My buddy won't sell it to me what an ***** huh.

My 9mm 1911 has very little felt recoil and its a 5inch model. I would think the 6inch would be a tad more accurate but chances are the 5inch model would out shoot you from anything but a rest.

One of these days I might have to get a gun like that. For know I like shooting lots of cheaper guns rather than one great gun. I guess you saw the pics I posted hoping the 3 amigoes will come down and shoot with us.

I have the 5" and frankly it's a terrific, terrific pistol. Absolutely love it. I think that the 5" will be more flexible than the 6" for competition purposes. As much as I love my version, I so badly want the long slide just because its a better look in my mind.

By the way, the 5" will not be going anywhere any time in the foreseeable future. STI makes a great gun. Again, thanks to "bac1023" for the initial recommendation.

I have a 5" Trojan in 9mm.

I love it. I only have about 500 rounds through it but it's a fun gun to shoot. I do have about a 2-3% failure to feed. I really think it's the magazine. I've only used the supplied 9 round it came with.

I have seen a couple of these digest a ridiculous amount of rounds in a season and never miss a beat.

Tripp and Metalform seem to be the most recommended magazine.

An Ed Brown chainlink mainspring housing matches up with the frontstrap pretty well.

Recoil? What recoil? It's a 5" 9mm.

Pretty much. You can feel the slide reciprocate, but I wouldn't call it recoil.

The difference between the 5" 9mm and a Glock 19 is about the same as the difference between a Glock 19 and 23. If that made any sense...

Yeah, you don't get much recoil with a full size 9mm 1911.

6" will give you less recoil (not that big of an issue anyways) but it also gives you a longer sight radius helping accuracy.

I have the 6" 9mm and its my favorite gun and by far my favorite to shoot. I bought it as a "Shooter" from the previous owner so it had a lot of rounds down range anyways and ive put in the ballpark 9k through it since i got it last year.

Aside from whatever the inherent pistol accuracy is with a 5" barrel, one advantage of the 6" barrel is a longer sight radius which helps the shooter attain greater accuracy.

I have a 5" .38 Super Trojan and its always been my favourite 1911. Great pistol!

If you reload the 5" will likely recoil less as you can shoot a reduced load with lighter springs, you will need a heavier load to move the extra weight in the 6" slide although that heavier load could be cancelled by the extra weight of the 6" slide, fun and games

If your not reloading and shoot the same ammo through both the 6" will recoil less.

The 6" should also be more accurate due to increased sight radius.

I'm glad you still like it.

If it was a 5", I would have kept it. I did buy a 5" STI Spartan to replace it.

I LOVE it! by far my favorite shooter. Accurate as all get out.

notice i had the holes filled for the mount? I started using a cmore on it and it was just too easy, so back to target sights.

I didn't notice. Looks good.

I know how it shoots.
