Help me pick a 1911 carry gun...

I have narrowed it down to either a S/A Champion or Kimber Pro TLE II.
Thoughts/opinions ?

ETA:My budget is $800-$900

If you can shoot em both.. buy the one that you like better. Not much wrong with either of those two pistols at that price point..

The choice is yours, but I like Springfield's.
Springfield also has better customer service.

I have owned both brands, and they are both quality firearms. BUT! Kimber's customer service BLOWS! Just had to deal with them a few weeks back. Instead of dealing with em I sold the gun. Springfield's customer service is great!

My opinion?

The Springfield is more of a solid no nonsense work horse with Springfield's outstanding customer service.

The kimber is a more refined weapon, more features & better cosmetics. Kimber is
a solid weapon with good customer service. Expect to have to replace the recoil spring
with a Wolff extra power spring. Many have done this for reliable function.

Would be a very close call.......I think I would choose the Springfield.

I'd go with the Champion. That's just me.

Neither are series 80.. The Kimber uses the Swartz fps, while the Springfield uses a titanium firing pin with an extra heavy firing pin spring.. Out of the box you probably will find the Kimbers trigger to be just a touch smoother.. I would go with the springer myself.. as I absolutely cannot stand the CS folks at Kimber..

Before you get either one, be sure you are comfortable with carrying a 40oz gun (loaded). I know some here will claim it's not an issue and it may not be for them, but I would look toward an aluminum frame 1911 if your intention is carry.

<facepalm> only reason I suggested it was the price point.. that and the fact that it is actually closer to a true commander length barrel.. but for those that are hung up on the aesthetics of the huge rollmark..

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the DE 1911C for an affordable carry gun. I could give a _____ less about the rollmark.

A carry gun will either be in my holster riding my hip, or pointing at some BG, and I don't think he's going to go "dude, that's a bigass ugly billboard ... yuck".

I agree. Plus some guns take off so much metal on there "billboards" that the gun has to be lighter.
