This is the webcam in my mom's town.
Some of my very favorite shops are either on this street or the street at the intersection. There are a few shops we love to go to within the two blocks on either side.

When we were spending the day with our dear friends this past summer, I called my sister while standing by the shop accross the street from the camera....where the driveway is. She got on her computer and told me to have everyone walking by wave to her.  They did! It was a hoot. They didn't know there was a webcam there. It reminded everyone of "Smile. You're on Candid Camera!"

A dear friend of my mother's owns a wine shop at the intersection of this street.
That is a MUST SEE place everytime we are in town.
He is a SWEET Christian man. His wife is a chef. They have two precious young children. We always buy our wine for my mom there while we are in town.
His name is Scott! He use to be a teacher.
He is an amazing young man!

If EVER in Black Mountain, NC, and you want a GREAT Cheeseburger....
A good friend of ours....from OUR town....runs a place called "Macs".
The best Cheeseburger you could ever want. If you mention Karen and Kirby from Kissimmee, he BETTER know who you mean, sent you! (Alberta's daughter) It probably won't get you a discount, but the food is amazing! best Cheeseburger and Fries in North Carolina!!!

Well, there IS a 2011 version of Mayberry! There are friends of my moms/friends we've made, that our trip is NOT complete until we take our walk through downtown and stop and say hello and chat awhile!
Our most interesting is the old guy who owns the clock repair shop. HOW he KNOWS what he has in there is beyond me! My mom took her grandfather's clock there for repair twice while we there. I personally thought that was quite the brave thing to do. He takes a three hour lunch everyday! He also apparently has no teeth. Nice old man, though!
Our favorite is the wine shop! We always have to buy something there!

Dang Karen,I missed this thread in toto.OK folks,I live in WNC,KCBs mom lives about 25mi +/- from us.This is a part of this nation that most have never heard of.This is my home,I'll be buried in these mountains.Karen,I can't view the web cam.This is a breathtaking part of the US,G33 is about 2hrs away in rocky top nation.

Hey Kirgi!
It looks like the webcam is down this morning! Keep trying. It has gone down once before, that I know of.
It is a beautiful part of the country...we want to bury ourselves in the mountains, one of these days, too!
(I sent them an e-mail to let them know it was down. So hopefully, they'll fix it in the next few days. Could be after the holiday weekend....  )
