I've got some 444 brass ordered and going to load for a 410, does any body have any good data for this load. Has anyone ever shot 454 from a T/C 410/45LC barrel?

What are you planning on using for wads ?
A .410 shot cup wad is a VERY loose fit in a .444 case, blowby will be a serious problem.
This comes from a 20+ year project of trying to build a RELIABLE snake load for a .44 Mag.

I saw something on the net about cutting them from hard cardboard. I was going to take a case and push it into the cardboard and cut on the line. I may be wasting my time but I'm trying to get a good snake round for my snake charmer.

Here's what I've used for cutting wads:

1) take a case of the caliber you're using.
2) drill out the primer pocket to clear a 4-40 maching screw.
3) put the screw thru the hole, & put a nut on the screw. Obviously the screw goes in thru the case mouth & sticks out like a "tail"
4) chuck it in a drill press (or hand drill) & use a file to sharpen the case mouth. The I.D. stays at caliber, the outside is filed to sharpen.
5) now is when a drillpress is needed. Using the end grain of a short pc. of oak (harder than other woods,lasts longer) chuck the tail in the drill press & use the sharpened case like a cookie cutter, "drill" the thin cardboard wads.
One other suggestion, if you have a Dremel or similar, cut a small slot in both sides of the sharpened case, about 1/2 way up. This lets you poke the cut wads out with a very small screwdriver or similar tool.
I wish I could draw a picture on this damn thing, be a WHOLE bunch easier !
And I'm such a computer moron I can't get pics to post either.

You use the oak as a base to drill into. The wood doesn't dull your cutter.

Yes a contender. I think the barrel should be strong enough. I'll have to load a batch and see if they fit.

Have you noticed that no one offers .454 barrels for the Contender?
Here's MGM's list of calibers, it lists the .454 as 'too much' for the Contender/G-2 actions.

Here's a great forum for the single shots. You have to sign up, but there are a lot of experienced Contender guys there, they probably have all the answers you need for your shot shells as well.

TC has never offered a barrel chambered in .454 Casull for the Contender.
They DO offer it in the Encore pistol series.
They also offer (or did) a barrel in .375 H&H for the Encore !
It comes down to breech pressure; A Contender is good to .44 Mag pressure levels, about 50 K psi.
The Encore will handle Belted Mag levels.

FWIW.....the old .454 Casull ammo, blue & white boxes sold by Freedom Arms approached 62 K psi, same as most new belted magnums. There was a good reason that Freedom stated not for use in ANY but F.A. firearms.(no SAAMI spec existed for the propriotary round)
The new SAAMI spec for .454 is 48,800 psi....thank you Tortise Rowlfing Calf !
also, Ruger Super Redhawks were factory tested before release with the OLD Freedom Arms proof ammo, just under 80 K. Brass goes plastic at around 82 K psi.
