power pistol for 9 and 40?
I have been using bullseye for 9mm and WSF for 40s&w. I recently ran out of the wsf and cant find it anywhere in my area. I would like to find a powder that I can use in both the 9 and the 40 and be readily available in my local gun stores. The only 2 that fit the bill are Power Pistol and Unique. I have tried unique but it doesnt seem to meter well in my Lee powder measure. So that leaves Power Pistol, do you guys think that PP would be a good choice for those 2 calibers

Works great in Pistol. Very nice powder, very bulky, very cheap (because you don't use much weight of powder, but the volume is still high). Only down side is that it's got a nice flash at a indoor range. Besides that I see no reason to not use it. I use it in .380, 10mm, and 9mm.

It's an ok choice, I don't like the recoil impulse or add'l. blast & prefer WSF for loading both 9mm & 40.

I don't know how much better it meters than Unique. If Bullseye meters well for you, it might be alright. Power Pistol is based on Bullseye with a different coating.

Power Pistol meters just fine. Better then Unique.

I love PP for 9mm, but then I usually shoot outdoors. 124gr. fmj over 5.3gr. of PP super accurate load in my 17L. I also use it for my 10mm. Pretty versatile powder IMHO.

I use PP in 40 and like it a lot. It's real smokey when shooting cast bullets, but I shoot outdoors all of the time, so this doesn't bother me. I get excellent accuracy with 180gr cast and 5.5gr of PP out of my M&P 40's.

I've never used it with 9mm, but it should be a decent choice. I found it a good choice, very versatile, in the 40 and it would be my go-to if I didn't have WSF. PP is flashy, but that isn't a big problem on the firing range IMO.

Power Pistol gives good velocity, bright flash, loud report.
A real "Manly" powder.
When I was using my one experimental can, people would ask me "What have you got in that thing?"

Heh, I ran some "warm" 9mm loads with Power Pistol through a Glock 26 at a fun pistol match once. When I finished the stage everybody watching me started clapping and cheering! They thought I had just done it with some kind of .357...
I've found Power Pistol works well in 9mm, .45 ACP and some .38 Special too (real smokey with lead, but not much different than Unique IMO); I imagine it would be fine in .40 as well. It IS everything you read about regarding its flash and blast properties though. It meters okay too, though I prefer WSF when I can find it.

Imagine a G20 10mm shooting full power loads at a indoor range. Everyone stopped shooting the first time I lit off a magazine. They thought my G20 was some sort of 44 Mag or something.

I've got a pound of PP I haven't even tried yet. I'm still new to reloading and just using Titegroup for now.
Eventually, I'd like to get my 9mm and .45's a lot faster

+1 for PP. Use it for 9mm, 10mm & .45 ACP. I do favor the fireball. I load the 9mm to 1200 FPS (115gr FMJ) initially for a CA89-SD (MP5-SD clone). The ported barrel lowers the FPS 200-225. I now use them in my G17. We also run the 9mm, 10mm & 45 in semi & full auto & they do just fine.
