coworker wants a .40
so my buddy is looking at either a cz or beretta .40 cal. Now..had it been 9mm...i would be able to answer him that he could spend more on a gun than a cz..but he wont get more of a gun than a cz. It is the perfect gun, imo. but i do not know how these handle the .40 round. i know the sig was built for 40, but i dont think he wants to spend that much, especially when, imo anyways, you might get a slightly better gun between a sig vs cz...but not 400 dollars worth better of a gun. so between the two i mentioned..which one is better suited for him? (and yes, i already tried to talk him into going to 9mm...but 40sw is his thing, and all his guns, even his 1911, are chambered in 40)

Beretta if he wants a 40. The 9mm CZs have less issues then the 40 caliber models. The CZ Rami was infamous for problems with the 40 caliber round and I've seen 75Bs that didn't perform that well. I'd suggest looking at Sigs as well. You can find decent prices at summitgunbroker and other sellers.

okay thanks...im personally not really a fan of alloy guns(though i wouldnt minds having a mk25 9mm) but hes just looking for something that will run for him. i have a 75 in 9mm and my dad has a 9mm 90-two...but when it comes to 40sw...i might has well be talking in chinese. i know absolutely nothing about guns in that caliber.

in the .40 with Beretta i would suggest the px4 Storm, the 96 is ok and can be had pretty cheap but is kinda big for the amount of rounds it holds. have little experience with CZ's though

Would he consider used or CPO Sig P229? That might be a good bargain.

Sig SP2022 is also a gun in the $400 price range. Also seems to be many leftover new FNP-40's around that come with 5 mags.

Of the two, I'd go with the Beretta. But, like others have said, check out some Sigs as well.

Buy a police trade in Glock in 40 and dont worry about the finish,much cheaper alternative.
