IDPA orientation in Angeles

Went to an IDPA orientation yesterday at Mt Clark Range in Angeles and let me tell you it was a blast. The event was organized my Marck Tan of Tactical Applications Consulting. Different from IPSC, which is the "king" here in the PI, but I think it's more practical in the sense that accuracy counts alot. No walk throughs or anything and limited to how many rounds and mags you can carry. Basically, if you wouldn't carry it on you for EDC, you wont carry it in IDPA. I encourage everyone to try to do it at least once. Different and very addicting.

Di ko alam next sched. They said however, try nila next month. Cost was 500 pesos only. Included orientation lecture from Cebu based Safety Officers and 2 couses of fire. Apparently IDPA is very big over there.

If you ever asked yourself "what would I do if I were presented with X scenario," then this is for you. Different from IPSC because there are certain scenarios that you need to draw from concealment. Also a difference that IPSC guys seemed to have to adjust to was that hits on the target count and are "scored," just like IPSC, but you will get penalized if you "fail to neutralize." The most ammo one can carry will be maxed out at 31 if you carry hi cap. Some scenarios though, mandate a lesser amount of ammo. 1 stage we did allowed 21 rds, but you had to hit the targets 18 times at least. If you were using a 1911, the most you could carry was 19 for this stage.

Again different and very addicting. Their philosophy seemed like, if you wouldn't carry or do it in real life, then don't do it here. Of course no matter what you do, since there are rules, there is some gamesmanship. It's up to the individual if they want to use it more for their personal training supplement, game, or combination of.
