Unreal!!!

http://jobs.aol.com/articles/2011/09...uscare00000002

In a time when police relations are strained, at best, in a lot of places, this is a travesty.

LOL....I can only shake my head. NYPD officer doing the bump and grind at a parade is no big deal, tossing a football with a kid gets you in trouble.

What the...? Did they play for the entire shift? Otherwise, what the **** is wrong with their superiors? Is there more to this? Is "playing football" some sort of a NYC euphemism I should be aware of? Did they do this while naked? Did they shoot at the ball in a public playground?

OMG, police officers being "normal" folks. They clearly have no place in the NYPD.

Unless, of course, this had something to do with a counterterrorism operation. Maybe they were trying to win hearts and minds in a muslim neighborhood, you know... in which case they will be getting their jobs back, stat.

Sometimes you just can't make this stuff up.

Probably should have taken a little something off that pass. Probably nailed the kid in the face with a line drive....

But that's what the football four were charged with, as they received command disciplines. Two of the four also accepted a penalty of two vacation days. And now Guzman along with fellow officer Mariana Diaz are appealing the ruling and taking the case to the departmental trial room, according to the New York Daily News.
Department Trial Room = Kangaroo Court....Even worse.....I hope they don't lose. If so, they'll lose more time than just the 2 days....

According to the article, the two cops were females. Catherine and Mariana. The two should be commended instead of disciplined. "Ridiculous" is not a strong enough word to describe their plight.

I agree. Recockulous is a much more appropriate word for this situation.

If they failed to go to a dispatched call, or were on scene for more than say an hour, I can see where some action might be taken.

Otherwise, NYPD/NY City has lost its mind.

Dito. This makes no sense.

Another article that I read stated that they (the four officers throwing the ball) were angrily confronted by an NYPD supervisor who chewed them out in the presence of the kid they were playing with and everyone else in the immediate area.

I am assuming that this is the same supervisor who wrote the officers up in the first place.

Maybe if they had been humping the football?
