I'm gearing up for an interview with basically my dream job tomorrow, and while sitting in my car with my arm out the window, a bird pooped on my arm. A friend of mine told me it's supposed to be good luck, which got me thinking...

Anyone here have a lucky charm/talisman/ritual they'll admit to having or carrying? At my last department, I opened the box of ammo they issued me and was greeted by 49 perfect Federal EFMJ rounds, and 1 with no primer or powder. I carried it until I left, now I don't know where it is.

Sorry if it's been asked before, just wonder how many of us are "superstitious" or whatever.

Prayer trumps superstition all day long. That said, I do wear certain religious items around my neck, which have been blessed by a Priest. They are approved Catholic sacramentals, not 'good luck charms'.

I am not a LEO yet, but I do wear a good luck charm. I found and saved the rifle shell casing from the very first shot that I ever fired in the woods at a deer. I killed the deer with that one shot. I took the casing, drilled a hole through the entire thing just under the rim, stuck a key ring through it, and tied off a hank of 550 cord to it. I made it long enough to wear around my neck, and there is rarely a time that I don't have it on.

I have a little wooden cross given to me by a homeless man after I befriended him, I gave him hot coffee and a cigarette every morning,
he was hit by a car and killed four months after he gave me the cross, I wear it on a Glock key ring, I think it works I'm the only employee at work that's never been robbed.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to demean anyone's religious items, and trust me, I pray A LOT. I also didn't mean to compare bird crap on my arm to a sacremental blessed by a priest. This is more about those items which in and of themselves have no meaning, except to the person holding them.

And Ajon, you're right, but of course now that you've said that, you pretty much dared God to do that to me, you know that?

In all fairness, my empty bullet, DeerPredator's casing, they fit the bill of talisman than the religious objects you and Dalton Wayne carry. I sort of knew it was going to be a sticking point posting that, but I don't really know what else to call something like that. I'm open to suggestions, tho.

I have a St. Michael coin that my brother sent out to be blessed by the Pope when I was in the academy. I keep it between my soft and hard trauma plate. I like to think of it as my lucky charm - has kept me safe so far. After wearing it for so long, the picture of St. Michael with a sword has rubbed onto the yellow second chance titanium plate, pretty neat looking.

Small metal cross my kids gave me one year at a Xmas show. Rides with my trauma plate. Not really a good luck charm/talisman/religious article...just a good reminder that my kids love me. Between video games that is.

I rotate a few different charms for luck. Saint Michael rides on my chest, just below my heart, every shift.

I don't have a talisman or what have you. I don't have anything but God in my heart. If God sends an angel with me that is fine too I guess. I just carry a Bible with me if I am in a place where I do not have computer access to one on the internet.

I used to keep a Saint Barbara medal in my duty gear but now I wear a gold cross that looks almost as old as I do.

There's a Strider Nail in there too, and some other goodies, but those have other uses.
